    RIP Jake Burton

    Was pretty shocked and saddened to see this just now. One of the ‘fathers’ of snowboarding. Was only 65 but I’m guessing he took full advantage of most of those years.

    Very sad. I knew him in the early days when bringing the first snowboards into the UK. Those wonderful days of leather laced bindings with Sorel boots!

    My earliest attempt was trying to make my own from a skateboard deck with some hooks screwed in and a couple of bungee cords. Not too surprisingly it didn’t work very well. Would have been around ‘86.
