Right guys been here a while so am going to say it.

I am getting an air king.

I know I know but I love the slightly un rolexness of it.

    There I've said it

You'll have seen this then. :)

It may well be one of those Rolexes that acquire a cult following in the future, possibly because it was poo-pooed on release.
What's the availability on these? As hard to find as all the other sports models?

A flamboyant Explorer, like Bear Grylls in a fancy hat.

  5. #5
I've got one and it's my favourite rolex so go for it!

  6. #6
IMO, it is a better choice than the forum favorite- Explorer.

I bought one as loved the look, but the returned it the next day as Milgauss case too bulky. If only slimmer, it would be ideal.

I really like how they look apart from when it was on my wrist.

    Enjoy the watch!

I like it, something different to the normal black divers that have the Rolex fanboys getting hot under the collar. I also like the Milgauss with Blue dial and Green crystal - so there 

Totally agree; radical and funky by Rolex standards, numbering and colouring give it character, I think it's a great watch.

I must admit, I have one on order too.

In this world of crazy second hand values, it’s actually a reasonably-priced Rolex. I never used to like them much but when the dial error story was circulating, the more I saw one, the more I liked it.

It’s going to be OK. You’re in a safe space. Things will get better.

    I bought one, too.

Functionally the same as the Explorer without all the baggage that comes with the Explorer. Plus, it is probably the best "pilot's-watch" to have. Not for those airline GMT (truck-driver) pilots, but real pilots that get things done in minutes.

It’s a great watch and has a spot in my collection.

I originally did not like the 40mm AK as it looked like a spare parts bin special. But soon enough it looked appealing.

I pick up mine last year and it looks much better in real life. Despite this, I think this watch will be discontinued.

    I think they look cool

I'd say it's ok to acknowledge you need help with how to tell the time and those learner style minute markers will help. Bless you.

Great watches. I've owned 2 and have managed to nab one of the 88 'Smooth as Silk' versions going to the Thai Market so that will be my third!

Purple font instead of green and I think a Thai Airways inscription. It is commissioned by Thai Airways

Two things irk me about the big R - cyclops and 'mercedes' hour hand. Dreadful features on a watch. Really like the Milgauss GV, though this AirKing ain't shabby at all so both fit my criteria. I actually bought a Daytona which also fits that bill for a non awful R

Edit oh wait - for some reason didn't realise the AK has a merc hour hand, noooooooooo

Maybe get a vintage as well.

not letting mine go - as it’s a family heirloom

Didn’t warm to the new Air-King in pictures but looks really good in real life.
I like the yellow and green in particular.

You’re buying a Milgauss, with a nicer dial, for £1,550 less. It’s one of the best buys in the current catalogue.

On the subject of Air Kings, I am going to the Metro Centre this morning to have a look at this.

I'd be interested to know the reasons why.

I’d have seriously considered one but the shiny metal 3, 6, 9 didn’t work for me.

Good buy - these are under appreciated. Given track record, High probablity this will be one of the most sought after in couple of decades

I’m more worried about the pilots requiring the extra numbers to tell the time!
