Thread: Bremont Ronnie Wood Collection

    Bremont Ronnie Wood Collection

Now up on their website. Not sure what to think about it. To my eye the dials look terrible and the pricing outrageous but is there a market for it? I’m usually a Bremont fan as well.

As a fan of Bremont, an owner of 3 of its watches, and the organiser of the TZ visit earlier this year, they are an abomination. In my opinion it's a good job it's a limited edition as they may even struggle to sell the 47.

It's basically a nice watch, only it's been ruined by an eccentric pensioner with too much time on his hands.

One’s called “Face Print”... I’d have thought “Face Palm” would have been more appropriate.

Was Ronnie Wood ever in the RAF, SAS, SBS, Navy Seals, Special Ops, Tactical Divers Group, Commando Regiment, Paratroopers, Air Arms Corp, Joint Forces Aviation Wing, Signal Regiment, fly a Boeing, tend to some French farm land, or star in a James Bond film or anything like the above ?
    Didn't think so...

Small coincidence - just saw this after watching him on Jools. He is an accomplished artist in his own right but going by these watches I have to say I much prefer his music . And that price is a total piss take.

Can’t wait for the Keith Richards collection.
The Bill Wyman one could be different as well.

Bremont do an incredible job attempting to ruin their brand value with calamitous collection releases. This adds to that growing list.

I’m a mild Bremont fan but am baffled by this release. I assume they’re hoping that the rest of the Stones buy the watches out of solidarity.

Another vivacious, exciting range of watches, exemplifying the great value for money and solid, gimmick free approach to marketing for which Bremont are justly celebrated.

Can't believe I'm with Soapy. I'm no Bremont fan, but I really like some of these. There's a little lack of imagination, the same theme time and time again, but I love that you can get an original Ronnie Wood on your wrist for 400 quid.

Wait... how much?? I guess I'm out, but I still love them. Ronnie, if you're reading this, and I know you are, hook me up with one, cheers mate.

Never been a fan of this brand and with these models it makes me hate the brand even more.

  30. #30
Really trying to understand the brand's reasoning here. I thought they wanted to be like the new IWC with sober Pilots' style watches. Even as something meant to have a 'twist' it's just totally ugly.

I can just imagine the conversation

    Bremont picks up the phone

RW - Hey Lads, I have had a great idea, how about I follow up the clock I painted with a limited edition of watch dials
    Bremont - Errrr....
RW - It'll be great, I have some epic ideas involving floppy guitars, horses, Rock - you know, my signature shizzle
    Bremont - but, Ronnie.....
RW - You see, I am going on tour, I can do these in my spare time now that I am not wasted on industrial quantities of drugs and alcohol. I need a creative outlet, man. Rod does his model railway, I can do this.
    Bremont - Errr, yes, but......
RW - Really, it'll be no trouble, I'll get on it right away
Bremont - okay, I guess. How many are you thinking, maybe 3, I guess we could do 5?
RW - Naaah. I reckon I can do 47. Fantastic -I'll get on it. Bye

    Phone clicks

    Bremont - Oh s**t

As a Bremont fan, this is the type of thing that I can truly see alienating a lot of sensible would-be owners.

Stick a big name on it and ask silly money...

I had an e-mail the other day promoting a Jimi Hendrix LE, it was basically a normal watch that had his name on the dial.

I personally think Bremont never had a real passion to produce only sober styled pilots watches, they probably chose that because they thought that identity fitted well with a brand that wanted to push its Britishness. So for me it’s no surprise that they’ll try other routes to turn a profit. They’re just a business.

  35. #35
There’s only one thing I like about these watches.

Yes, I’ve got some Sympathy For The Bevel

Presumably the Brian Jones one is waterproof?

I like Ronnie Wood. I like a lot of his art. (Many years ago, I actually saw him in a gallery in Dublin that was exhibiting his work. Tiny, tiny man!)

Bremont are offering a series of unique miniatures by a critically acclaimed artist & presented in the form of a functioning, precious metal watch with complications for your £39k.

It's also worth remembering that Wood's other original work can sell for well over £50k.

If (I'm not sure if that should be a big 'If' or not as I'm not au fait with the art world/watch collector intersection) they all sell at list, that's £1.83m top-line for Bremont. Once they pay Ronnie, they're liable to do rather well out of the collaboration.

I'd be prepared to bet it was Bremont who called him.

Actually that’s a detail I hadn’t noticed. It elevates it right to the top of my want list. I’m sure others will feel the same too. It’ll be the must have watch and it’s in seriously limited numbers. Not sure I can raise the funds in time, so I’ll probably have to accept that...

You can’t always get hot Bremont

That. Wow. I clicked on it thinking, they can't be that bad, but they are.

I wonder how much Ronnie would have received from Bremont, I imagine it would be quite a sizeable amount.

I’m not so sure. I think watch manufacturers (or assemblers, or whatever) really need some kind of identity if they are to survive long term. I think they’ll lose any identity they ever had, so whilst it might work in the short term it’s not a good path to follow. But perhaps they have to do it for short term business reasons. Who knows....

Here’s a link that talks about pricing of the movement supplier.

    https://issuu.com/watchlords.com/doc...ture_fleurier_

The base 3022 (without the calendar and large moon) runs at CHF1630 with a minimum order of 25.

Yes I clearly said it’s the base calibre. Best I could find in the time I gave it. What would you guess the -31 would cost these days for a run of at least 47 ? Surely can’t be much more than CHF3000
