Any recommendations on a drill ?

I've got a hammer drill and a Bosch small drill the the Bosch is what's letting me down.

It doesn't seem to have the power to fully nip up screws etc and struggles when it starts to get tough.


Anyone recommend a cordless drill for screws etc that has good power ?

Depending on your budget, a drill /impact driver set may suit.

I have the 18v DeWalt set and think it's excellent

All my pro tools (Milwaukee mainly) went with my business; I have been re-equipping for a more DIY lifestyle with Erbauer, the in-house range from Screwfix, and find them a good balance of reliabilty, power, and price. They do an 18v range of cordless that all share the same battery, so you can have several tool heads (drill, impact drill, angle grinder, circular saw etc) and share a spare battery.
If money is no object I would suggest Milwaukee.

Get an impact driver / drill combo. Screwfix or Tollstatuon have decent ranges in.

You’ll find the impact driver more useful for screwing.

Just bought a DeWalt combi drill today myself. As others have already said, get a combi drill/impact driver twin pack. If you're happy to spend a few quid I'd stick with DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee or Bosch blue.

The Screwfix website is pretty good as it tells you the max torque of all the tools at a glance.

Have Hitachi myself. Never let me down. Hardly need to charge the battery too!

I bought a Makita drill and driver set in a Screwfix sale a couple of years ago. The Blue stuff is the proper trade gear, these were white so the next level down.
Amazing for a DIY'er.

I bought one of the green Bosch 18v combi drills to replace a makita Nicad drill very light but put a whole bathroom in on 2 charges

Only 10.8v but hasn’t let me down for home use. Comes with a multi tool and a total of 3 batteries. Not bad for £200.

I have this 18v version and its extremely capable- I'm sure they are the same as the blue just in a ltd colour as my daughter BF is a chippie and said he had one

More than the drill, choose well the batteries. Should be Li-ion, and 3Ah or more. Personally have Hitachi, impact 10v, drill 18v.

It's £80, but is frequently available discounted to ~£40. It's Black Friday in a couple of weeks, so it may be worth waiting.

Yes, I have drill/driver, jigsaw, chain saw and strimmer and will be buying lawnmower next spring.

Amazing their range including obscure stuff like heated jackets and a motorised wheelbarrow!

I have this and more than happy with it. Only 1.5amp batteries, but for my level of usage thats fine. The spare charges from empty in 40 mins, so i'm never without.

Have to put a word in for Ryobi - some of their stuff isn't too clever, but the drill I bought a year ago is superb, even with the standard battery I have yet to run it flat in a day's work in cold weather, and it survived a fall from 2nd-storey scaffolding to the ground completely unscathed. Best £60 I've ever spent.

Do not, however, ever buy their weed sprayers!

I bought the dewalt “brushless” 18v impact drill... I also got the 18v brushless 1/2” drive impact gun. Bothe have been excellent

That's the one I've got looks and feels like a toy but I put a bathroom in with it, no use for drilling concrete lintels though
