Lovely stuff, B.
I got this vintage Bucherer pendant, the wife loves it.
It was freezing here this morning, with a wind that would shave the hair off a gooseberry. I still decided to have a look round. Found two things. This Mappin Necklace Watch and a beautiful hand carved Indian box. Unfortunately the lock keep of the box was broken so I spent the rest of this morning making a new one. I have to fix car boot finds straight away otherwise they would never get done.
Here is the procedure I used to make the new keep. Glad I never got rid of any old tools. I found a key to fit too.
The box is 8x4x41/2 inches. Beautifully hand carved mahogany:
I hope you like it.

Here's another 'pendant' that was repurposed by someone.
1907 silver ladies fob case with tiny shells attractively displayed.
I like that. Does it still have a watch inside ?
I was given this 1918 silver trench watch last week by a shop owner I do repairs for. It hasn't been touched for over 70 years apparently:

That's a looker B, nice crown too.
No, the case is empty except for a 1870's penny and the circle of card with the shells on it.
There is no dust cover either, and the chain is steel, but looks very old and well made.
A sweet love token maybe. With a penny to spend.
*The turnip crown is original, but the luminous paint is giving a reading of 36 microsieverts. Background here in Torquay is 15. So it's going into a thick box for now. Hope I don't glow in the dark.

I love that Mappin.
Nice repair job on the box.
Nice repair on the box. Back in the 70's on holiday in France, for her birthday my dad bought my mum a near identical pendant watch like that Mappin, only it's branded Stowa. The only visual difference seems to be it has a golden tassel at the bottom. I still have it too. Not for wearing mind you.
