Something stylish perhaps..................
You guys with a full head of hair don’t know how lucky you are.
No, it doesn’t make you better looking, but you don’t have to worry about suntan lotion in the summer and a good hat in the winter.
On that subject, I’m looking for a good hat and need a bit of inspiration. All styles gratefully considered.
Something stylish perhaps..................
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

I'm a recent convert to beaver felt. Cool in the hot, dry in the wet, and warm in the cold.
When it’s really cold I dig out my sheepskin hat. When is absolutely brass monkeys I fold the ear flaps down. You might not be the coolest looking guy on the block but you will be the warmest.
I have whole selection of caps … various styles . One hat is bit like only having only one pair of shoes.
Or one Rolex :)

So style isn't an issue? What is the intended use for this hat? Front door to car? Dog walking? Working outside for extended periods in sub-zero temperatures?
As a dog walker, my preference is a beanie style wool (acrylic) hat; one that's long enough to double fold over the ears. Note: when dog walking, I really don't care whether or not I look attractive to the opposite sex.
Got lots of hats including Tilley and harbours. However for a cold head this is the best woolly hat I’ve owned.

I stay inside when it’s too cold...
Or too hot...
Or...
Akubra without a doubt, hot, cold, dry, wet, they don't come any better and I wear them all year round... Beautifully made and long lasting is a bonus.
Racing trilby?
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
Wear anything but a baseball cap because baseball caps look mega chavy.
Surely, it’s Lock & Co or Bates if you’re looking for a gentleman’s hatter.
Belgian cycling cap. Not just for cycling!

Well three recommendations for the Ray Mears hat so I’ve just ordered one.

Sealskinz Beanie. Great in the cold, and has a membrane to keep the wet out. If it just cold I can recommend merino wool as light and warm, cheaper as an acrylic mix.
I find the RM too warm for our climes. I can't keep my ears covered for long with one, and when it's cold enough I find it uncomfortable as I am alternatively too hot and too cold, with an increased frequency as the temperature goes down.

I swear by the paramo beanie

I find many “woolly“ hats far too warm this one has been perfect just warm enough without the need to take it off every 20 minutes seems to breathe just enough whilst blocking out most of the wind and stays warm even when wet.
Have a look at the Seeland Eton. Looks like a smart cap but has hidden earflaps for when its really cold. Also has a hidden bright orange section if you are inclined to hunt but that doesn't need to be on show.
Heat Holders beanie. Cheap and very warm.
These Canada Goose beanies are superb

I use a 100% merino wool watch cap from PDW.
The difference with RM’s is that it is rib knit. Somehow I find it much more comfortable. And whilst it’s not cheap, it’s still about a quarter of a CG

I got the CG beanie as a present when I went to Iceland, I had no idea it was that much to be honest, it is very soft and very warm but probably not worth £150

I ve had a buzz rickson watch cap for two years now. The quality is great and it’s the perfect watch cap for the jack Nicholson one flew over the cuckoos nest look - Levi’s 501, sweatshirt, a2 jacket, watch cap, redwings
I must have been so bowled over by the price of the CG that clearly it's affected my spelling & grammar!
Now I'm not up to date with CG's current pricing but I'm sure there was a time when £150 would have got you some way towards the cost of one of their jackets. It would seem that as a brand they're aligning themselves with the likes of Moncler.

I have a couple knitted from wool off my Jacobs, looking at the price of the CG I’m in the wrong business.
