Any website developers in the house?

Is there any developers on here who specialise in Magneto websites?

We have had an absolute nightmare over the last few months with a couple of developers and still not resolved. We had plans for the site we were looking start early 2020 but going to bring it forward in the hope we can get the lot done and fully functional for the new year.

At the moment I am looking for some advice and to discuss my ideas.
One developer I spoke to suggested converting my Magento to Shopify which will be a better set up but to be honest I have no idea about it all so going off their word (they do come across good though).

    Any help appreciated

I was involved in an online business where Shopify was the backbone to the website, it worked well and was preferred to Magento, saying that, I didnt have much to do with the building of it so cant give you any info on the website itself.

Shopify though do take there fees, you have a fixed monthly fee, each item you sell incurs a fee and if the buyer uses paypal you incur a fee from paypal and shopify, its all small percentages but does build up, they also hang onto your money for around 4 days which is then transferred minus the selling fees.

There is lots of add-on apps which are great if they suit your business, key though is finding someone who can edit your site quickly with no problems over desktop/iPad/mobile.

    Thanks for the info.

I didn't realise there was additional fees with Shopify but from looking online it seems to be around £60-ish per month and then 1%.
Are credit and debit card fees on top of this as well?

When you mention they hang on to the money for 4 days, is this before it gets passed on to the payment provider (we use Worldpay) for them to process which would take an additional 2-3 days?

Our site would be a multivendor marketplace so I would like to keep costs to a minimum and process payments quick as possible for our members. We are planning on running it on a monthly fee rather than commission but will have to factor in card/shopify fees so there is in essence a small commission but just to cover fees.

We've used Shopify for our music education sales: https://shop.ucanplay.org.uk. It has proved very reliable and I'm pleased with the look of the theme that we purchased too. It is not cheap but has definitely generated good business for us.
