Thanks OP. Great read
I’m smitten with the gold version myself and would prefer an El Primero over a Speedmaster for a historical chrono. However funds are currently needed elsewhere so for now I’ll bookmark the article...
I love these new steel El Primero with the ladder bracelet- pictured on the right below.
And a proper limited edition with only 49 being produced.
The watch is not available to buy yet, Phillips watches auction house have a buyer waiting list in chronological order-
I have no affiliation to Phillips but if anyone is interested in getting one of the 49 steel versions drop me a pm and I’ll give you
the appropriate email address of the Phillips employee who is in charge of the list.
They will be posting them direct to your door from Geneva.

I like the look of the ladder bracelet but I strongly dislike the Zenith practice of overlapping sub dials.
Love them all but especially the gold one!
Middle option in the blue is probably my favorite there. Im surprised its worth Zenith doing a limited edition of only 49. I thought they would be aiming for higher volumes than that.
Zenith are notorious for doing limited editions in particular of their El Primero. It is a way of marketing/selling watches that otherwise would not be that easy to sell. I like Zenith as a brand and in fact have two limited edition Zenith watches but am no longer taken in by their limited editions. They are a bit like DFS with their sales - i.e. another one will be along shortly.
I totally agree- but in terms of limited editions Zenith are certainly in no way any more notorious than Omega and their Moonwatch and Panerai- it’s just business.
But at least these particular El Primero are proper limited editions at 49 pieces etc- my last Omega moon watch limited edition was over 2000 pieces
8000 CHF for the steel one - I can see the appeal for a collector.
The Platinum blue dial’ one off apparently sold for 200,000 Swiss francs
Gold version is gorgeous
