DHL will insure up to £4000...
Accepting there have been past threads on this I just wondered what is the current favoured method of posting a watch of a value exceeding £2500.
We know that if the value of the watch exceeds £2500 then there is no compensation at all posting it RMSD if it gets lost.
Is anyone using a reliable alternative service which provides sufficient cover (£4k) and an idea on cost

Can you check the other threads - seeing as you have accepted them. You can check my posts I have already named the insurance company I use (a PM is also acceptable).
Perhaps some useful pointers here:

I use any postal method I like, then buy independent insurance through Secursus.
Works out the cheapest, and they specialise in jewellery and watches.
Simple sign-up process and no bullshit, just have to be sure to package and label as per their instructions.
Not had a claim, so the proof of the pudding and all that - but well reviewed online.
I just sent a £5k Grand Seiko to Finland, cost me about £35 insurance

I’m a big fan of RMSD, but the £2.5K limit is becoming more of a constraint. It needs increasing to around £5k, even if that mens the prices go up.
I worry about Royal Mail’s future, I think it’s an organisation in decline. By coincidence I’m sorting all my shares/investments at the moment and I’m about to sell my Royal Mail shares at a loss. At the time if the privatisation we were lead to believe the company had a great future and the flotation was hugely oversubscribed. I ended up with 227 shares, valued at around £750, they’re now worth around £500. OK, I’ve lost a few bob.......but it turns out I tried to invest £4K so I don’t feel too bad.
Royal Mail needs a serious KUTA*........... I still believe it has a unique position and it could be great again, but I fear it’s going into terminal decline. I’ve commented before on the poor calibre of staff in my local sub post offices, to me the whole organisation feels like its going downhill. I’m struggling to get the free RMSD envelopes thesedays in A4 size, supplies have dried up and the staff don’t seem to be doing anything to fix it, this may sound trivial but it’s the tip of the iceberg.
Should’ve sold the shares immediately after the flotation instead of listening to the experts....another bad decision!
*KUTA.........a 70s acronym for kick up the arse.
