Still some bargains to be had on Ebay- Sekonda 3017

So there I was doing my usual Saturday Ebay trawl when I saw a new listing inviting offers, it was a watch I have had before but sold many years ago and always regretted it, as ever with these things the prices went a bit mad soon after, this one popped up with pretty poor photos and was advertised with a couple of issues, the crown is wrong and its difficult to set the time due to the stem not clicking to the set position, but apart from that it runs very well and keeping time and the chrono resets as it should, I put in a offer at the start bid price and then immediately thought I should offer more as there was one other offer pending, I was just about to increase it when I got a notification the offer was accepted! Not car boot sale cheap but significantly less than the price of others on Ebay.
It came today and its actually in better shape than I thought it was going to be, a quick polish of the crystal made it look much better and its running well, it will need the crown and stem looking at as some point but Im sure thats not a big issue.

This is its more sophisticated looking cousin with the same movement and case I picked up last year.

That looks like a corker! Funnily enough I've been feeling chuffed with myself for snagging a really nice 3017 at the weekend in an auction that finished at £343. Bet you did better than me though.

I'm pretty much onto branding variants now although the very early sterile dial pattern still eludes me. It's the one on the right, same as yours. I just need to find a Cyrillic Strela version at a sensible price to complete the trilogy...

This would be a very difficult redial.

Sorry to thread-hijack @jasonM but I've just unearthed one of my own...

It's a little rough, crown winds but never seems to put any tension in the spring, top pusher missing... is it worth mending or is this a donor-watch to rescue somebody elses?

    Or worse still, a paper-weight?

Nice thing, always thought they were something of a classic.

This seems as good a thread as any to post this. Just arrived this morning and hidden amongst a large parts lot. Came in at under £200 and it looks to be in pretty good condition and seems to run well. I’ll get a new crystal ordered then it’ll be good to go.

A question for anyone really... is it correct that the movement needs to come out to access the crystal, or is it just retained by the front bezel ?
