Watch Rotor Spinning When Manually Winding

Pretty much as per title. Never known this to happen before until I was winding a watch yesterday after having set the day and date. Is there an easy solution to this?

This is quite a common occurance. As the lubricant in the reverser wheels becomes old and sticky, instead of allowing them to spin freely, the additional drag drive makes the rotor spin.

Ah, OK. Thanks for that. Mind you, I'd rather the oil wasn't so old and sticky seeing as the watch was new in March this year. I guess they might sort it under warranty then?

I’ve seen this happen on newish watches, can be caused by incorrect lubrication, certainly worth the warranty discussion as the automatic works / manual winding is not working as intended if reversers are ‘sticky’

The same thing happened to my IWC Pilot Chrono with a Valjoux 7750 movement. As has been previously mentioned a lube sorted it out.

    What watch is it?

99% sure it's the reverser sticking.

It's a Hamilton Pan Europ with the H30 movement (ETA base).
