Thread: What’s your favorite GMT? Need inspiration

  1. #51
IMHO Nothing beats the Rolex ref 16710. I've had mine since 2007. In that time up to now countless others have been and gone including the newer Rolexes but always back to my trusty ref 16710 coke bezel. Its at RSC at the moment for its 2nd service, got myself a Tudor BB GMT to tide me over but sold it after less than a month, I couldn't get on with the thickness and no matter how I adjusted the bracelet it would either be too loose or too tight.

I like the Nomos Worldtimer, not a true GMT but a fun twist on the theme

Picked this up yesterday, thanks to LukeBird.

My first GS, and a GMT for when the 16710 stays home, but I’m just so impressed already with it. The finishing on the hour markers has a prismatic effect that’s mesmerising - here’s a poor attempt to capture it on the 12:

I think my favorite (that is below 5-10k euros) is the Ulysse Nardin Dual Time manufacture, even though JLC And Glashutte have great pieces.

Here with an enamel dial, when I was just passing by a shop in London.

I love the blue that NOMOS uses and the world timers are neatly designed and good value.

Completely agree. I've just got a Black Bay 41 and I'm currently having the same issue. Such a huge difference between one extra link with the bracelet on the tightest adjustment Vs extra link off and adjustment on the loosest. Thinking about adding a 4th hole to the bracelet.

Really annoying and may cause me to sell it as I only want it if it's on the bracelet.

I bought this about a week ago

I’ve vacillated between this, a couple of breitlings and some other watches such as alpine and Hamilton that offer true gmt functionality.

In the end the Ulysse Nardin dual time won for a number of reasons. The gmt function. Is just super easy to use and read. The interaction with the watch to jump hours is superb. That hand date is fantastic for my aging eyes. The dial is sublime and unique, I can’t think of anything else like it. Lastly for something dressy it’s very robust, 100m we, screw down crown, etc.

I’d heartily recommend looking at a UN dual time if you are in the market for a GMT watch the build quality is amazing.

I’m glad it’s not just me experiencing that. I picked up my BB GMT on Friday and I’ve got it on the loosest micro adjust because another link makes it just too big. I think another hole would work on the bracelet but I would not trust myself to drill it!

I wouldn't do it myself. I've take it to a Rolex or Omega accredited independent. Maybe even just post it to watch works. Question is do you add the extra hole on the outside or the inside?

Has to be this. Handles the half hour and quarter hour time zones too.

Oh, and it also does this

Seiko Breitz SDGA001. Electronic Ink display, so very easy and clear to read. Great features with multiple display options.

They've made a number of different versions, though none are currently available AFAIK.

I’ve never had any interest in GMT watches and the Rolex models have never floated my boat. However after a few days of wearing this I understand what the fuss is about. I absolutely love this watch!

Obviously it’s a total ripoff of the Rolex but it isn’t pretending not to be. I love the case shape, colours and bezel font. As a piece of design I can’t fault it.

This is quite simply one of the nicest watches I have ever seen.

My favourite is probably the overseas 3rd gen dual time. However, of the watches I've actually been able to afford my favourite is probably the JLC master compressor dualmatic.

Many out there all at different price levels, depends on your budget of course.

Relative to other sports Rolex prices these are still a great buy.....

5 digit explorer 2 for me. Either dial colour. I love the GMT2 but for the versatility to wear with a suit, the Explorer 2 is more unassuming and easier on the wallet.

Love this thread ...gmt’s are my favorite watches and great to see some I’d not even heard of. I’m after a new travel watch that goes under the radar ( not comfortable traveling with a Rolex these days ) . Thinking of a sinn 857 utc just holding back as it’s not a proper gmt . Anyone travel with a Sinn utc compilation watch and find it ok to use ?
