There are hundreds of new brands of gin going out there because it is dead easy to make. It is impossible to say what someone else will like, so it's a bit of a non question.
Tanquery number ten is probably a market leader and it will be well received. Just to polish it off, accompany it with a decent tonic water by Fevertree.
I have a bottle from Devon which cost £55.00 for a litre and I also paid 8 euros for 2 litres of a local gin in Spain. Both the wife and I preferred the cheap one, so don't be over governed by price.
The tonic water is the greatest influence on taste, hence get Fevertree which is 100% natural and you can taste the difference straight away.
You could try Ramsbury Gin. Nice and local. Think I bought mine in Waitrose Wichelstow.

I think Tanqueray and Hendricks are very difficult to beat, especially with a good quality tonic.

I rather like Plymouth Gin myself, followed by Tanqueray no10.
Plymouth Navy Strength, worth finding. I like the original, but the Navy strength makes a great martini. I like gin to taste like gin (juniper, citrus) so not a fan of the more diversely flavoured gins. Pink gin to me, means a dash of Angostura Bitters, not strawberry, pink grapefruit (well maybe) or rhubarb..
My wife likes her gin and I'm always happy to join in and we've been to quite a few gin festivals etc.
Like others say, it's very subjective. For something a little different I'd recommend Brockmans. It's Scottish, has a blueberry edge and seems to be universally popular with friends who've never tried it. For something else a little different I personally like Nordes which is Galician, and has a very unique taste and the base spirit is made from grapes.
Chase make great spirits and are worth a visit if you're in Herefordshire; their GB gin is good and all made in house. Piston gin is another good one with trying, which people are unlikely to have tried.
Silent pool is over rated and having visited their distillery is more about about jumping on the trend and looking pretty rather than distilling good gin.
For a really good gin, made by someone who really cares, and is an up and coming distiller being saught out to create specialist gins then have a look at Tarquins Gin from Cornwall.
The owner (yes Tarquin) is a very small batch producer who is passionate about what he does, and listens to customers and what they want.
I tried one of his gins while working at HMS Sultan as that was all that was being served in the Wardroom, then dropped in on the off chance to buy a bottle of gin from him while in Cornwall, what followed was a 90 minute conversatios about gin and a personal 1 to 1 tour of his set up.
He was genuinely interested to see what i thought of 2 new gins he was producing in a pre production tasting session.
An enthusiastic gent who deserves to do very well.

My current tipple of choice is pink peppercorn gin (the name escapes me), with Lidl aromatic tonic. It’s delicious.
Whitley Neil Blood Orange is decent, but for an unflavoured gin I’d recommend Pickerings 1947

I don't drink it but I've bought loads for my missus and I think her favourite is Parma Violet Gin by Zymurgorium of Manchester.
She also likes a Blood Orange, Rhuabarb and Ginger, Tanqueray, Lemon Drizzle and quite a few others

T10 and Tanqueray Seville are very hard to beat too, for me.
My brother has around 150 different types of gin in his bar, so I get to sample quite a few - but only teenagers recommended these days?
Larios was a nice surprise for a cheaper gin, and I quite like Martin Miller and Gin Mare.
But I'd always go for Monkey47, or T10 in non-flavoured and Quince or Seville for flavoured. Makes a changed from drinking Jack Daniels for years.

Cotswold Gin and Bathtub Gin also also good a bit different.
Haven’t found anything better than Fever Tree Light tonic - very clean and light.
Henry James tonic is a good back up

Tanquerry Seville is a pleasant alternative.
Also, Elephant Gin is tasty too.
I’m not a gin drinker, but recently have a likening for Tanqueray Seville and Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic
If I had to do fever tree it would be Mediterranean, or Light - but Schweppes is much preferable without the strange after taste of Fever Tree.
I just dislike that there is no choice on a lot of bars - far too many only have Pepsi too, which is useless in a JD! Hence why I started drinking more gin.

The Aldi London Gin cleaned up Gold in the awards this year.
Tried a bottle & I can see why, don’t think I will be paying silly money again.
Schweppes is my favourite & non of this low cal rubbish either.
Heard about that, so just bought a bottle, added some sugar and blueberries. Wait 3 days and hopefully a tasty and inexpensive blueberry gin. Looked for some rhubarb but none available at the mo.

I used to like Tanqueray No.10. But I’ve gone off it since I tried London No.1.
Another vote for Monkey 47
Feel guilty that it’s not a British Gin. For me Plymouth Gin still takes some beating as a UK gin. It’s an old established brand that has earned its reputation over many years and is not one of the ephemeral new fashion gins.

If you like your gin a little peppery Ophir is a good choice, serve with lime chilli and ginger ale a fantastic alternative to the usual.
If you like your gin 'standard' then you have to go a long way to beat Tanqueray, Fever Tree, and lime.
Botanist and Bloom are two of my preferred bottles.
I find Schweppes way too sweet with an artificial after taste that over powers any standard non flavoured gin personally hence why I prefer fever tree and pretty much any other tonic

Hendricks or Sipsmith for me. Plenty of others here I've drunk and enjoyed (Monkey 47 and Tanqueray for a start), but those are my preferred.

Didn't enjoy Monkey47 - I guess everyone's tastes are different...
