    Steinhart Limited Editions Group

We set up this group some time ago on Facebook to try to pull together the many LE releases of the Steinhart brand. I’ve always loved the LE watches they do and often those are the ones that have some artistic flair and not simply homages. Of course it’s Steinhart so it wont be for everyone but it’s at 600 members now so in case anyone on TZ wants to join just go to Facebook and search “Steinhart Limited Editions Only” or follow the link https://Facebook.com/groups/759879951014682/

At some point in 2020 we plan on doing our own Limited Edition so that should be fun.

Anyone interested is welcome to join.

I have an LSE (Limited Silver Edition), which I think might be the nicest watch Steinhart has ever made. Roughly a snowball's chance in hell of me joining Facebook though.

I don't tend to post photos much, but I might try to sort one out if there is general interest in keeping this thread going here.

I also don't do Facebook but am always interested in Steinhart LE models.

I really like the fact that a business is willing to work with regular folk who enjoy their products to make something special for their consumers.

I'm on that group and can't wait to see the LE (and maybe even add my own tuppence worth)!

Yep, with a sandwich dial, grey lume and grey PVD coated plates on the movement. They really paid attention to the details, which I like.

It's the only watch I have that gets any comments from non-WIS people. Usually about either (a) how nice it is or (b) how massive it is.

Sounds nice. I saw one before but size killed it for me otherwise I’d have bought it instantly

Yeah, it would be a lot more wearable at 44-45mm than 47mm but I can just about get away with it. It's certainly not the most subtle watch in my collection though.

Still, it does make it very easy to read.

Although I'd much rather it was on a vBulletin, phpBB, or similar platform. If one of those is infeasible then even Reddit would, for me, be preferable to Facebook.

A subreddit would be good, now you mention it. No setup or ongoing costs (unlike a dedicated forum) and doesn't require anyone to sign over their eternal soul to Mark Zuckerberg.

I'd imagine many on here will be unfamiliar with Reddit, or see it as some amorphous blob of random content: "mostly porn" or however the mainstream press is mischaracterising it these days. There's actually very little porn and what there is isn't very good, so don't get your hopes up! In fact all subreddits are different and what makes them different is entirely down to the moderators, which is just whoever claims the name first. The curious should probably check out /r/Watches obviously, and /r/AskHistorians to see what a popular yet well-run subreddit looks like (although start with posts that are at least a few days old otherwise you'll just see lots of deleted comments). Some other good popular ones are ELI5, IAmA (used to be a lot better), askscience. There are loads of niche ones, for example I follow a number of different technical/programming-related ones that I won't bore anyone here with.

One of the main reasons it’s Facebook is simply that Gunter Steinhart uses it a lot and visits the Facebook groups daily so it helps in that regard.

That is rational and understandable. Thanks.

Still unfortunate from a usability and ecosystem point of view, from my perspective. ;-)
