    Watch box ideas

Having seen the amazing watch box from the below thread I'm thinking I want to change/upgrade my current box.

    https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...ch-storage-box

Sadly my budget doesn't run to the one from that thread so i'm interested in peoples recommendations. Ideally looking for a wooden or leather box with glass lid (wooden box can have a solid lid). I like to have an additional storage drawer for tools/straps and cufflinks. Only needs to hold 4-6 watches.

Even if your watch box doesn't fit the above feel free to stick up a photo if its unusual or particularly high quality as it might give me some ideas if i look to make something.

I was looking for pretty much exactly the same thing. After hours of looking with not much luck, I found this one for sale at a decent price from America.

    https://caseelegance.com/collections...shed-watch-box

Ultimately it doesn’t have the all-important drawer for straps and cufflinks etc, but I really like the modern design so i’ve persuaded a friend of mine who’s handy with woodwork to make one to a similar design, albeit incorporating a drawer. Will post on here once it’s done. I could always share the designs and specs if you know someone who’s similarly handy.

Keep an eye out in TK Max. I've bought a few watch boxes from there. No picture of the outside, (which has a dragon on it), but the inside is very nice and is mirrored - I have two of these.

    Best Regards - Peter

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.

I found this old engineer's chest on Ebay for under £100. It was in a bit of a state and I had to re-line all the drawers with fresh baize (not a pleasant job). I've got all the room I need, though I have to lie the watches flat rather than using cushions (even using a tiny bit of bluetak on the straps of three of them to get them to sit right). Still, I think it works pretty well.

    I have 3 more that I use. (I am a toolmaker!)

I popped into a TK Maxx this eve on your recommendation Peter - absolutely right, there were quite a few! Didn’t find the one for me this time, but a great shout I never would have thought of

    That vintage cabinet though, amazing!!

Here is a link to a PeliCase option (of course you can purchase one yourself and pluck the foam out)

This is the coolest one I've seen. The thread goes into details of how it was made and this is Mk2

Wow that's very impressive. Personally I prefer I more classic look but you can't knock the imaginative design and craftsmanship that has gone into that piece. Would be interesting to know how many hours it took. Only viable as a hobby I'm sure.

I use one of these too. I lined each row with green felt, and cut pipe insulation for each watch to go round. Worked out well. 😀

I bought a couple of these from Amazon, excellent value at £38 !

Also don’t often see them as they are in the safe.

Really cool, thanks for that. Think I’ll get a 6 case. Now I will need to buy 4 more watches.

I picked up one of these from wolf last year, half price in the Black Friday sale...

Might be worth a look given that is coming soon...

I was aware of this one but always thought it was a bit expensive. At 50% off it would be a contender. Whats in the other trays?? I couldn't find any pictures of them all.

The middle tray is split into two. The top one is empty designed for straps to go in i think.

I was also looking at stackers outlet as this seemed good value

    https://stackers.com/catalog/product.../category/168/

Although while i like the price it isn't really what i want. May have been tempted if the 2nd tray could be changed to house my other bits like straps/tools and cufflinks.

I have a 10 piece Wolf Windsor with tray for cuff links, rings, collar stiffeners etc. I like it. Fits everything I need in there except my spare straps. Good customer service too.

I had a quick look on Amazon the other day. Now forgive my stupidity, but a lot were 'magnetically' closed. I've always believe magnets shouldn't really be near watches. Granted I assume the magnets in the Amazon boxes are not exactly powerful ;)

No magnets, just a small lock.

Yes, sorry I should have been clearer, yours is clearly a lock (and very nice too). I was talking more in general terms re: the magnets :)

On the ones i've seen the magnets are tiny so would have thought it isn't an issue

I dont mind them but i keep my watches on a bedside unit and think that would look a little out of place. If you were throwing them in a safe i could see the attraction.
