Traska Summiteer - Another Explorer inspired watch

Traska, (a US microbrand I hadn't heard of ) are doing a kick starter for the an Explorer homage of sorts, the Summiteer. I came across it onJust One More Watch. It's derivative but looks nicely executed. I'm not sure about the name. but I like the dial and handset. Did anyone buy their previous watch, the Freedriver.

FYI, I have no affiliation, just like Explorer style watches.

Thanks for links OP, enjoyed the review. I like it, blue would be my choice but with a non white seconds hand, doesn't look quite right to me. A good idea to be able to choose seconds hand alternative colours. Bracelet looks good too.

I like the blue one too. The hardening process sounds useful too and I like the sector dial.

Thanks for the heads up OP!

Like others, I really like the blue dial. Perfect size too. For $400, I can’t not pick one up!

I should like this, but there's something that doesn't click with me... I think the dial somehow looks a bit flat, as in lifeless.

Agreed - dial looks more like a Tudor Ranger than an Explorer, with the numerals very flat and a bit too small for the face.

I find the branding a bit fussy - spoils the dial for me. Also not that keen on the stepped dial. Not quite flat enough!

There's a write-up on Worn & Wound, which got me looking at them. Looks quite nice, actually.

Ordered mine on their kickstarter today. £315 or thereabouts. If it’s half as good as the reviews seem to suggest, I’m in for a treat 👍🏻

I didn't order one but am on there mailing list. I got an update today to say there would be a delay due to Coronavirus affecting their Chinese manufacturing facilities. I wonder if we will see this affect other microbrands?

    Traska vs Smiths

Has anyone got their Summiteer and would be so kind share their opinion especially comparing to the Smiths Everest, please?

I had a sage green one for a few months.

Very nicely finished, slightly darker titanium look due to the hardening process

Nice bracelet, nice and thin. Wore very nicely.

I found the crown dug in which is why I sold it but that's a me problem not a reflection on the watch.

Miyota wobble was quite significant though

Could only recommend one of you can find one

Looks like a new version of Traska's Summiteer is going-on sale at the weekend - this time shrunk a little to 36mm, and with a few, small visual tweaks, as well as hop upwards in price to $550 USD.

It remains Miyota-powered, which I've no problem with at-all.

With the hardened case and bracelet, you're basically getting a better Sinn 556 for less than half the price - I'm tempted, but 36mm is too small for me.
