Someone on a torch forum once said "if it has fire in the name, don't buy it"
Usual caveats here, but I think that statement has some truth in it.

There’s one exception to that rule, Surefire made in USA are a top brand.

Otherwise I would agree, ultrafire, trustfure, etc are all cheap Far East made lights.

Better brands are available. Some Far East brands have got their act together and make good lights.

If you’re after a great brand for torches, check out “Thrunite”

    Trustfire Torches

    Hi

I have 2, for some time now, and they seem ok for the pricepoint.
Improved them with a different aspheric lens for a better throw of light. Can be tweaked/tinkered with for led units etc. - depends what your requirements/needs are really.........

Lenser at al will be better but then pricier by some margin - recommend you look at some Country Pursuit forums (Stalking Directory, Pigeon Watch, UK Varminting etc).

Linky to some information - https://www.ludicrous-lumens.co.uk/

If only they would produce some lights with warmer tints rather than washed out white.

And use a standard micro USB port on their rechargeable flashlights, rather than their ridiculous proprietary charging dock.

I've bought three olights in the past year and each came with a micro USB cable for recharging, so maybe they are pursuing this route now?

I seem to have accumulated quite a few Cree led based torches over the years, and I’ve never paid much for them.

The last one I purchased was a LedTec T6 something or other from Amazon. Came in a little Peli case with a charger and adapters for AAA batteries.

The supplies 18650 rechargeable battery wasn’t the best, but I spent £7 on a new Samsung cell and that runs it for hours.

I think the torch itself was about £13.

I’ve spent a lot of money on both bike lights and torches, nearly £100 on a magnetic switch Orb torch, and that failed after a couple of years.

Decent torches are cheap enough to be almost considered disposable, but expensive torches don’t seem to be immune to LED driver failures either.
