Afraid not Ryan, I got mine a few weeks back. My photos aren’t as good as yours though.

Lovely dial, one of the best I’ve seen yet

The recent Grand Seiko dials on this thread are stunning , combined with the Spring Drive movement I am now seriously considering one in the future.

This forum remains a dangerous place!

Not only is that a truly special watch (and I'm no quivering Seiko fanbhoy), but an even better photograph!

I'm routinely amazed by the standard of pictures people on here take - most especially when compared with the utter garage on most of (even the biggest) brands' websites!

Thanks for the positive comments guys (just an iphone pic by the way :)); I did think this would divide opinion a bit more given the contentious power reserve :)))

And a couple more gratuitous pics just because I'm in the honeymoon phase..

The PRI is beautifully done, and for me increases the interest of the watch. Enjoy!

Is the GMT hand yellow, or gold like the GS logo? I love a bit of bold colour on a nice watch :)

EDIT: or maybe the GS logo is yellow? My assumption..

Pleasure. Glad you got a good deal. You still owe me a beer remember ;) Waiting for the model to be released must have been a killer though! I must admit I'm now wavering - in promo pics it looks a lot more faded than your pics which are definitely showing more contrast on the dial

I’ve not forgotten! Would be a genuine pleasure :)

I’ve deliberately chosen pics that show off the contrast to be fair, but in reality it’s a bit more ephemeral. In the sunlight you really see the best of it. At first I thought this was ironic given it was meant to represent fog which I’m sure was what I read on release, but I’ve since seen that it’s meant to reflect ‘winter snow as it gathers and glistens against the sunlight’ which seems more appropriate.

Sometimes it looks really muted, almost flat pale grey; but then a change of light and it looks totally different with much more definition. At first I was disappointed by the muted aspect, but I think it totally fits with the idea behind the model, and I’m already starting to love the temporal changes :)

Hi, both the logo and GMT hand are gold, this picture brings out the colour and the best features on the dial

I think there was one previously but the selling of it into the trade after getting a deal on SC caused huge dramas.

Since this was from back when watch merchants mixed and matched movements, dials, cases and hands, I don't for a moment suppose anyone's got exactly the same thing as this....

....but perhaps someone has something very similar?

Mine is about 30mm across, sterling silver Dennison case, with an A Schild movement (I forget the exact calibre ref, but I know it was something very common in the 20s, that came at a variety of grades)

iirc, it's porcelain - is that different from enamel, or just a type of enamel?

Earlier this year I noticed that the subdial is actually taller than it is wide, ie not a perfect circle. I wondered if this was deliberate, to balance out the foreshortening caused by the usual angle when glancing down to look at it? Or, perhaps more likely, just a manufacturing error?

Enamel is a glassy coating baked onto a substrate such as ceramic or metal.

Porcelain is a (usually translucent) caramic material not a coating.

    I don't know whether these are unique on this forum, but I know they are unusual . . . . . . .

As a fan of beautifully made "pocket watches in wristwatch format", for my sins, my favourite attainable watchmaker . . . . .

    Thanks for your interest

Think it was a limited edition circa 2011 when the planet ocean 8500 calibre replaced the 2500 series.

OK I'll play. There's nothing here very valuable, but nothing too common either (except perhaps the Garrards). The Hamilton is rather rare, so 50 internet points for anyone who can correctly name it.
Please excuse the fluff, especially on the keyboard!

A very close mate of mine gave this to me a few days ago, as every time he had it on his wrist I couldn’t take my eyes off it.

Now I’ve seen plenty of pointer-dates, but never one of these before.

Let’s see if this is the only one here.
