Royal Navy issued HS9 Lemania Series 1 monopusher

Why is the first number struck through? I have one & mine isn't.

The watch was reclassified so the issue number was scratched out and a new one added. You will see it done by other military’s I have a British issued watch also with a scratch out number and another added. Mine probably had a longer military life due to being used longer being reclassified for another use.
