    Sometimes it just feels right

I have become quite fond of the Rado Captain Cook 42 mm in a very brief period of ownership.
Just feels right. Perfect size, weight, look, good time keeping. Really enjoy wearing it.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Rado. Their ceramic ana-digi watches were one of the first watches I looked at as a teenager through the shop windows of Milton Keynes and just wanted. The captain cook is a thing of beauty and if I didn't already have a Breitling SOH (which I think is very similar in aesthetics) I'd have snapped that one up from sales corner.

Wear in good health, it's a cracking piece.

Is the date wheel roulette or just red?

I like the dark green bezel, gives the whole thing a bit of character while maintaining a classical look.

That is a good looking watch. Have you added the bracelet OP or is it original to the watch?

^ Looks like the original bracelet to me, from looking on Google.

I do like that, good for you. Love the idea of the spinning anchor - but is it annoying in reality? An 80-hour power reserve is very handy too.

I'd have gone for 42mm too of the 3 choices. I like to think 42mm is my sweet spot, although all my collection are 40mm - I wonder if I could pull this off on my 6.75" wrist.

Now that is a thing of beauty, the more I see it the more I like it, is it a re issue?

That is extremely nice and the bracelet suits it perfectly. I always liked the Captain Cook style but the previous 37 and 45mm sizes did put me off. It looks about right now!
As a bit of a closet Rado fan I'm also looking forward to seeing one of the new 42mm Golden Horses in the flesh.

Snap, any excuse for a picture of my Green Horse

    Thanks, guys.
To settle a couple of points- it is a black/dark grey bezel not green though it comes in a green dial as well. The BOR bracelet is original to the watch. It is a reissue. The anchor is not distracting or a nuisance at all. Was torn between this and green horse with a green dial and a gold plated bezel. Very nice looking. May get it as well at some point.

That looks lovely, Raj, and almost FF-esque.

Really like these(although I would go with the smaller size), seem to be very photogenic too! Great watch.

    That is very nice.

Seems to me that dive watch designs diverged in the ‘60s, some going for the Submariner style look and some the Fifty Fathoms look (very roughly).

Not wishing to offend anyone, but the FF branch seems to produce a lot more interesting watches (just a personal opinion).

    I share your opinion there.

Spinning anchor, who knew! Is that a Rado ‘thing’?

That has a simple elegance about it, yet remains very functional. I rather like it.
    Best Regards - Peter

I’ve been looking at these in AD windows and have to say that they’re mightily impressive.

That's a very nice watch Rajen!

I nearly pulled the trigger on the LE 37mm Captain Cook.

I really like the raised profile of crystal and the curved surface of the dial.
They add a lot of character to the watch.

I also like the Fifty Fathoms and you can see the similarities. But the Rado is obviously more affordable.

In the end my wife decided I didn't need another watch at the moment!
So I'm hoping Rado release another version of the 37mm at some point.
Hopefully when she is in a better mood!

I actually don't mind the spinning logo. It's a nice little querk.
Apparently it was meant to be a bit of a crude service indicator.
I.e. when it stops spinning, it means the oil needs changing.

The other Rado Model I like is the Golden Horse 1957 with the red dial.
It's just a bit different to other watches!

Love the look of the HyperChrome 37mm version, with a more oyster-style bracelet, but yours looks great.
No idea how they crept up on me but liking the idea of a few Rados at the moment

    Love this super-LE Captain cook:

I'm on hols. At the moment, in Thailand. I was being driven through Bangkok, last week, saw that watch on the big digital "billboards", it did indeed look very very nice.
