They should have a responsibility to try and achieve the best prices - that selling for just 3k plus costs is a joke

Must be an old show surely. Hard to tell with Dickheadinsons colour changes.
On an entirely different note, I think I'm in love with Alys.

According to my virgin box it reckons the episode first aired in March 2016.

It's a TV show at the end of the day and in almost 5 years the prices have changed dramatically. In fairness, I guess it depends if the dealers are watch nuts. In general the estimates are probably determined by looking at recently achieved prices on the saleroom.com

Whilst a lot of the dealers wear rolexes, they will not be au fait with market prices or trends. Auction was probably the best way to go at the time. Its also important to remember that in 2015 hulks were readily available around 4.5 to 5k and you could still walk into an AD and buy a submariner....

Most dealers on the show display a real lack of knowledge where watches are concerned. I saw the show a couple of weeks ago where someone brought in a Heuer chrono with Audi sport on the dial. The watch was boxed and unused. The dealer offered £150 for it. It sold for £2800 at auction. Did anybody else see that one?

In all honesty, the seller is not obliged to take to auction. For example if there is enough money on the table to cover a recent bill (car breakdown or new boiler, wedding etc) then they will take it as the auction is usually a few weeks away.

I did, I assumed the dealer didn't really want it, either because it wasn't their thing or they didn't want that much cash tied up in stock. It didn't take an expert eye to know it was worth more than they offered.

Yep but I think Fay Rutter just eclipses her.
