Looks like it may be from India but only guessing.
Hi all
I found this solid silver bowl in my loft at the weekend. It looks pretty interesting and from the way it's made I think it's old. The carving and stamp marking is crude. No hallmarks to be found.
Thought this would be the best place to ask. Very interested to find out what it is?

Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
I'd agree - India.
Often less pure than Sterling.
Cheers,
Neil.
Thanks for the input. Me and my other half thought it looked a bit Indian
Indian or middle eastern would be my guess.
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

Agree Indian, or close.
Don't think it's a bowl though given there appears to be engraving on the underside, but no foot or rim.
Quite possibly a censer lid.
Could be a Thai/Siam rice bowl?

It would make sense that it was to hang up as the bottom is patterned also.
I guess there's going to be no definitive answer. I like that the engraving skills are not to a high standard. It's nice to imagine it was made a long time ago with primitive tools. To be found in my loft in an old wooden crate box.
