Poor quality G Shock parts on eBay

I thought that I would try a steel case on my GW5000

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Custom-ma...AAAOSw1IhcM68J

it arrived today and I was very disappointed with the fit

Apologies for the poor quality photos but this one shows that the top surface of the bezel does not fit flush with the lugs

….and worse still the holes for the retaining screws do not line up very well at all - I managed to get three to screw in but there was nothing I could do about the fourth one, as you may be able to see from this pic

I contacted the seller who was fine about a refund so will post it back to him tomorrow

This may be a one off glitch but I thought that a heads up on this might be helpful to someone contemplating a similar mod

A lot of the aftermarket bezels and bracelets are just that - aftermarket, or even worse outright fakes when they are stamped G-Shock etc. Genuine parts from official Casio outlets are far more expensive as you know, but they are genuine and fit.

I bought a DLC Bezel, bracelet and male and female screw sets from authorised dealers and they fitted like a dream, but were about three times the price of the shite listed on e-bay.

I have my positive display, full metal, DLC Watch listed for sale on e-bay for less than a third of the price people are asking for a Porter, but stand little chance because people are influenced by the prices of the stuff that doesn't fit.

Cant argue with any of that

Is there an on line source for genuine GW5000 compatible bezels that you know of?

    I bought from:

    https://www.pacparts.com/model.cfm?model_id=Gmw%20b5000

    https://www.watchband-shop.com/navi....+b5000&search=

    https://www.tiktox.com/casio-bands-b...bezel-set.html

I suspect that your problem may be - are these parts genuine and appropriate to the original Watch. It is fine to take a DLC bezel and put it on a Steel watch, but if the parts you are buying are purely for modification purposes, then clearly this is where the problems start.

I suspect that the part I bought was not genuine. It was advertised as fitting a GW5000 though this was clearly incorrect.

    Thanks for the links.

I wouldn't mind trying a shiny black GWM-B5000G bezel but see that Watchband are out of stock

So, it looks as though genuine DLC bezels can be found

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283621774079

    Just wondering about the following:

As I understand it the bezels on all the squares with steel cases are interchangeable - am I correct?

Also, with all steel squares as they leave the manufacturer - is there rubber or silicone shock absorption between the case and bezel?
