So, what's American about Lawrence of Arabia? Aside from the studio that paid for it, presumably.

And one of the scariest, not relying on special effects. And yes, Lee Remick!

Lawrence of Arabia, The Bridge on the River Kwai, and The African Queen are some of my all-time favorites, all from producer Sam Spiegel. I first saw these as a kid, before I knew they were classics, in the early 80s on videocassette tape, but I was lucky to catch Lawrence of Arabia recently with my 12-year-old son at our local cinema. After so many years, the scenes and dialogue from the film were dreamlike, like reliving a part of my childhood.

    The African Queen you say...

I’m glad you had that experience when you were reunited with Lawrence of Arabia; I get that feeling every time I watch it.

It was a lot of fun, very nice skipper, we had quite a laugh with the other passengers and I got to hang on to the tiller for about 15 minutes.

Some lovely waterside properties around the marina entrance, you must have had a great time there.

I'm definitely going for a trip next time, when my son and daughter in law are diving.

    Great part of film history.
    Cheers,
    Neil.
