A Russian just came to my front door...

Lo and behold, it was the Poljot Okeah I had purchased a month ago! Even though it arrived on a new mesh strap, I promptly fitted it to a vintage rolled steel beads of rice I had sitting in one of my many watch boxes! What do you think of the match?

Refreshing and interesting. Is 1 crown for winding the chrono and the other for timekeeping?

P.S. bonus points for the telemeter!

I really like these and have been tempted many times.
The beads of rice looks better than a mesh but I think these look great on a grey / green canvas strap.
    Enjoy the watch.

The crown at three is for winding and setting the time
The crown at nine is for the bezel.

Cool, so a bit like the Seiko Pogue 6139 in that you can time 2 different things at once?

I was searching for one, and found this beauty on Etsy, offered by a highly-rated seller in Ukraine. It arrived extremely well packaged...I was surprised!

Very nice and I think the bracelet looks good on it. The Okeah is one of my all time favourite watches - I still own both an original and a re-issue:

    Lovely! BOR suits it.

It looks like a new 'limited edition' re-issue but the pushers are distinctly old Soviet

    Where was it from?

Here's my reissue with different pushers…

Be careful - the Okeah is one of Russia's most faked watch! The OP's watch is certainly not original but could be a later 2000s reissue?

Inside is the standard Poljot 3133 manual chronograph, built from the tooling of the old Valjoux 7734.

Here is the box that came with my Okeah:

Just looks to be an (internal) rotating bezel, so can be for timing things like on a dive watch, or in this case for tracking a second time zone.

The rotating inner bezel is marked 1 - 12 so clearly for a second time zone, probably useful in a country with 11 time zones. But what is the red scale for? It goes from 1 to 10 1/5, so not a telemetre scale in miles or kilometres and I can't read the word to the left of the 12.

The telemeter (телеметр) scale is in nautical miles - the Okeah was originally a Soviet Navy watch.

Always liked these, beads of rice suits it so well. One day maybe.

A very nice combo. I would be inclined to brush the bracelet back abit to match the watch.

That's just me, as I don't do bling.

Have you any pointers regarding what to look out for?

Of course, obvious now you've told me - the speed of sound is around 11 nm per minute.

At the moment I'd say probably 95% of the vintage Okeans sold on eBay are fake with the ropiest ones coming out of Ukraine.
    Here's my biggest tip: if it's under £500 it's definitely fake. If it's over £500 it's probably fake :D
