It's nice, but I'm getting tired of seikos's rereleases of "classic" watches, but at an eye watering price point compared to what they would be even if being generous with accounting for inflation.
The Seiko Prospex automatic chronograph SRQ029 LE , celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 6139 , one of the worlds first automatic chronographs .

Liked the look of this in a retro way... until I saw the price! I could pick up a lot of tasty vintage Seiko for that money.

Around £3k after discount is fair for the quality and this will be a better watch than any Tag/Breitling with a derivative ETA movement.
Problem is many people still viewing Seiko as a brand that sells £300 watches but moves like this will eventually erode that view.

I would take a Breiitling chrono any day over this.
I really like the look of that - the Prospex logo has never bothered me. In house movement, column wheel, vertical clutch, and by the look and sound of it, excellent finishing. Seems like a lovely thing to me and as others have noted not exactly poor value in our bizarre world.
I think it had the potential to be stunning if the P/S logo and 'Automatic' wasn't there and the Seiko script dropped and centred in that area of the dial.
That PS (X) business removed along with "Automatic" would leave a very nice vintage styled watch.
Perhaps just Seiko, with a small "Prospex" underneath if they really must?
Cheers,
Neil.
