It's nice, but I'm getting tired of seikos's rereleases of "classic" watches, but at an eye watering price point compared to what they would be even if being generous with accounting for inflation.

But this is every half-decent brand now? The Speedy Pro is 4k! IMHO this Seiko is lovely. What's a better chrono (with a better movement) for less money (RRP). The Avigation? Movement isn't as good...

Liked the look of this in a retro way... until I saw the price! I could pick up a lot of tasty vintage Seiko for that money.

Why do you consider the longines L688 not as good as the 8r48?
Both beat at 28800, the longines has a longer reserve, longines is +-12 but seiko is +25 -15.

I know there more to a movement than numbers but based on this it seems the longines is a better movement.

Around £3k after discount is fair for the quality and this will be a better watch than any Tag/Breitling with a derivative ETA movement.

Problem is many people still viewing Seiko as a brand that sells £300 watches but moves like this will eventually erode that view.

Its difficult to view it as otherwise when that god awful X is on watches from 300 quid up to 3000 quid.

(And to qualify, i have 5 seiko in my 8 strong collection, im a big fan)

    Yeah that's fair enough.

    BTW It isn't an 'X', it's a P and a S entwined.

I would take a Breiitling chrono any day over this.

Are you sure you mean any Breitling chrono? One with a tarted up 7750 movement where the rotor wobbles on your wrist and the chrono starts with a big industrial *thunk*? Even one of those for more money?

Fair point, well made! The logo was not needed and the MM300 looked should still say 'Marinemaster'.

I really like the look of that - the Prospex logo has never bothered me. In house movement, column wheel, vertical clutch, and by the look and sound of it, excellent finishing. Seems like a lovely thing to me and as others have noted not exactly poor value in our bizarre world.

I think it had the potential to be stunning if the P/S logo and 'Automatic' wasn't there and the Seiko script dropped and centred in that area of the dial.

That PS (X) business removed along with "Automatic" would leave a very nice vintage styled watch.

Perhaps just Seiko, with a small "Prospex" underneath if they really must?
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Yeah that’s a good point actually. I’d keep the Prospex logo on watches up to 1000-1500 and revive the King Seiko brand for the middle ground up to GS.
