New Garmin - MARQ Watch Commander GPS Smartwatch

    At £1,699.00 I think they're having a laugh.

And such marketing b""llocks: "Finally, the operator who serves with honour and dignity has a watch that does, too."

28 hrs in GPS mode (I read elsewhere, albeit that's the "athlete" version). That's certainly impressive and desirable, but yes - that's an eye-watering, wallet-frightening asking price.

I prefer my Garmin 945 for every day double wrist action along with a Apple Watch and mechanical. They are extortionate, especially as it’s a smart watch. I upgrade my apple and Garmin devices every year. If you could upgrade the Marq range very year. That would have been ideal.

Not expensive for the technology contained, however unlike Z33/X33 (but like phones) will be relatively worthless in 5+ years.

Garmin do make a bewildering array of smart watches now - does this do any more/less than the newly introduced Fenix 6? That must be available in something like 6 versions and there are 6 versions of the MARQ (driver, athlete, captain etc).

Fair point. True also of a number of G Shocks and similar that are a fraction of a price of this one, though. And in 10-15 years one of these will probably seem as usable as a Palm Pilot does today.

And in the light of this story I somehow doubt our operator would get to take his toys on tour anyway.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I think Garmin need a GPS because they've lost their way.
