Some of the Fifty Five Fathoms modifications are great, but only buy if you intend to keep. Flipping is difficult and usually leads to a loss.

Here's my modded SKX007. Just put on a flat sapphire without the beveled top edge. Also has a lumed 12hr bezel insert, strapcode jubilee, and 6R15 movement.

Nice selection, are the Willard style cases based on a Steeldive or similar? Or genuine Seiko case?

NH36 movement, new hands, blue AR flat crystal, luminous ceramic bezel insert, strapcode oyster bracelet. A great first project and planning on another soon. Just waiting for parts to arrive.

It was originally an SKX009, which looked great, but is now more pleasing to my eye and the hacking movement is nicer for me.

The Willard case model is similar to a Steeldive. I need to check as the insert is different, and the bezel assembly is better.

It has been upgraded with a signed lock crown and thick sapphire. I've recently regulated it to +2 seconds a day.

One of the great ironies of this hobby is that a lot of Seikos are modded to look like Rolexes.

I really like what you have managed on the Willard and the 8000. I contemplated having one built with new parts if I could as I love the model, but can’t afford a good original one.

    Nice.

When using aftermarket dials does the lume suffer a bit? I know Seiko are renowned for having decent lume.

The original Seiko SLA025 is on the right. I don't know if the modded watch on the left has a MM200 or MM300 case. The original has the separate chapter ring. The modded watch has the chapter ring on the actual dial. It does look great though.

It really depends where you source the aftermarket dials from. New sources are producing dials with excellent lume, although probably still not as strong as Seiko’s Lumibright. I’ll get some Lume shots of mine for you, so you can have a look.

    It’s works so well! Stunning!!

Is it possible to fix one of those SKX shrouds to a MM300? I’m assuming not if you went to the expense of buying all those bits and bobs.

This isn’t helping my current tuna fetish!

Built over quite a while! Case is homage (Merkur) but built exactly to gen spec and size. I have seen a genuine pre owned case but it is too beat up. Crystal is updated sapphire and movement is Seiko NH35 ( keeping time to +2 sec a day). Everything else is OEM, dial, hands, bezel, insert and full bracelet. I love it.....
