I had no idea they were making a movie. Can't wait.

This and the forthcoming 'The Irishman' alone will see me keep my Netflix subscription for a while yet, I think.

I forgot about that one. But you're right.

9 out of 10 times, Netflix and I aren't friends. I can't find what I want. Perhaps this has to do with my 'profile' or with what's on offer this side of the North Sea. But these movies and Better Call Saul... Well perhaps...

'Stupid question alert' - will the film be worth watching having not seen Breaking Bad? I do intend to watch the series at some point when I have time but do I need to do that first??

yes, you really should watch BB 1st - else you will probably have no clue what is going on.

You better start now! Binge-watching XXL ahead. I personally plan to rewatch all episodes of the final series.

Think I will watch the last episode of Breaking Bad to refresh my forgetful brain and then get stuck into El Camino.

Really hoping it is not total rubbish.

15,000 people on IMDB give an 8.6. I'll be watching it tomorrow.

Update: Even Rotten Tomatoes is largely positive.

Very weird film, should've been done at the end of the series if they wanted it, not 6 years later, there is some seriously poor continuation!

To be brutally honest, it was a film that nobody really cared or wanted with its theme, which is a shame as there were several other themes that a feature length movie could've been good for.

Just finished watching it with the better half. From a closure point of view it was quite enjoyable and I agree with the reviewers describing it as “ultimate fan service” but it just felt like a feature length episode. It’s a 7/10 for me.

I found it kind of messed a little with the final episode closure though, always loved that last episode because of how it closed so much of the story and allowed the viewer to make their own conclusions.

Well I enjoyed it. Bittersweet seeing Robert Forster though (RIP).

New stories from the 'Breaking Bad Universe' are always welcome in my house, especially while we're waiting for the next series of Better Call Saul. I'm not sure what the naysayers were expecting a 2 hour film could add to a 5 season series - a tangential self-contained story seems sufficient to me.
It does at least confirm that Walter White is dead.
For me, it was a wasted opportunity to do something much better.

I am a big fan of Breaking Bad, but the film seemed like a poor excuse to fill 2 hours with a lame series of poorly conceived events.

It was fine, certainly not great, I was glad I watched it, but will not bother to watch it again.

My wife and I are both BB/BCS fans and were really looking forward to El Camino.

Watched it over the weekend and whilst we both enjoyed it, we did wonder "what was the point if that?"

I enjoyed it....When JP left the compound I did think where can he go from here?. The sequence of events following was typical BB, a bit far fetched but you can't rule them out as impossible so it all felt comfortable and familiar.

I think it held it's own very well as a thank you to the fans.

  32. #32
Loved BB and sat down and watched this with the wife and it was ok but felt disappointed. Some bits just made no sense at all, why would the guy let him take any cash when he had a gun on him?

Just feel they could have done much more, I did like the flash backs that filled in the story.

If the gun went off it would bring unwanted attention to an already hot crime scene which would require them to silence any possible witnesses....making a simple robbery into a high profile man hunt.

Personally I'd have bashed Pinkman over the head with the gun and be done with it but then the movie would be over.

As a 'stand-alone movie' a very good one. Compared with the BB episodes not so good. Ozymandias and Felina were superior.

BTW, this could be interesting to some (explaining the BB episodes' titles): https://breakingbad.fandom.com/wiki/...Title_Meanings

An OK from me. As mentioned above it was a feature length episode. It didn’t really work as a stand alone movie as films should.

I quite enjoyed it too, quite tense in places, he plays Jessie well, which is odd because I’ve seen some in his ‘other’ work and he doesn’t come out well, maybe I’m too invested in him being Jessie and can’t see him as anything else.
    Cheers..

I too enjoyed it. Tied up a few loose ends, and I some of the flashbacks were brilliant, specifically the one in the diner.

Another OK here, not blown away. Found parts of it hard to follow, but overall enjoyed it.

Slightly disappointing but still worth a watch if you're a BB fan.

Agreed - I thought the film was, overall, not worth watching.
A rating of "1" seems appropriate.

I loved the series and I loved this, just like a bonus feature length episode. I think a lot of people went in with too high expectations, for me it was much better than I expected.

I was expecting it to be a few years later, not straight after the end of the series, it just seemed a bit weird to do it that way, not least because the actor playing Todd appears to have aged about 30 years and put on several stone in weight since the end of the series!

It was pretty boring...just milking few more dollars from the Breaking Bad past... watchable, but nothing what would make you excited. 5/10 at best

It's kind of bad. I watched it on a train from Snowdonia; I wouldn't bother with it unless there's absolutely nothing else.

This bothered me too. Even with all the make-up, Aaron Paul is clearly much older than he was in Breaking Bad, so it made for some weird watching.
