Is it the Sub that's a clone? I know sod all about Rolexes, I definitely would have been taken in.
I got my grail watch today and my neighbour was wearing his Rolex...
He asked how much I had paid !! Cheeky
Then told me his was only 300 pounds and a high end clone..Ive photographed them both ..
One is real ... mine obviously...
I will let you decide how easy they are to spot...
Lume is exactly the same colour..

Top one or the one on the last couple photos
The more I look 👀 the seadweller looks polished so could be wrong
I thought they were same watch
Bracelet fits better on the submariner mind

The clone is the Sea Dweller (you posted your Sub in the Incoming thread)
I would also never speak to your neighbour ever again.
The top one is genuine, the insert with platinum color inlaid numbers is genuine, the lower one isn't.
Still, frightening how close they have come.
I'm sure a few will find it really easy to spot but not me. I've not a clue tbh bit then the only Rolex I've owned is a green Milgauss.

centre post securing the hands also a giveaway. see bevelling and finishing on the sub post.
"Clones" are just encouraged by Rolex's over pricing and restricted supply.

I'm not familiar with the 6-digits but I think the Sea-Dweller bezel pearl looks suspicious. The shape is not even and symmetric. Also the numbers on the bezel aren't convincing. Are they too thin?

Why spend £300 on a snide Rolex - which you know is fake, and the folks around you will assume is fake.
I can understand why you might spend £50 on a fake, it's the same money as a Timex.
£300 is a chunk of change you could use to buy a decent watch, and avoid the shame of supporting the fakers.
Bezel insert on SD didn't look right to me and I've never even handled one. £300 doesn't sound like a high end fake from what I've read. The high end ones wouldn't have such blatant giveaways such as that highlighted by verv. HM has done some good posts on the subject.
Top one is fake
Without sullying this forum.. I've seen/ handled a 1000 pound replica sea dweller, they don't call them fakes :) ... The pam he had also was impressive.

The fit of the end links to the case is the giveaway for me, it’s much neater on the Sub than the “SD”
Is it illegal in the UK to buy or sell a fake, if you know that is the case and disclose it
It's just that there are some amazing "looking" Rolex fakes around on the internet, for US$100 ish
not sure what they are like in the flesh
On the Dweller , did they retain the warranty card? Did he get the stickers?
High end clone, and £300. Please recalibrate. What does that mean?
Couldn’t spot a fake even it came and slapped me in the face but I did notice the odd figment of the endlinks on the SD.
The quality of fakes is certainly far from ideal for bona fide buyers, and has radically foreshortened the channels through which I purchase certain watches.
But frightening is the guy driving behind you with the counterfeit brake pads; the airline whose supply chain is compromised with counterfeit parts....
The second hand on the sd is too short

The super fakes are so good now, they'll fool most people, and these people generally won't hang around with real Rolex/PP/AP etc owners, so there's nothing to compare.
Plus the water resistance is never ever guaranteed. There are plenty on Instagram with the 3135 clone , 2824-2 or whatever you like . One even offers a 'full set' whatever that means. The water resistance is stated at 70 meters (??) For them which is a random depth .

Shocking how alike these superfakes are!

I wonder how many people could actually spot one of these super fakes. The scary thing is that you could buy from someone totally genuine and honest, who themselves was fooled into buying one.
Apart from buying new, or from someone like Haywood it’s a bit worrying.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
SD4K is the replica
But the point is, the quote refers to something actually being what is, no matter what it may claim to be.
In this case, a fake Rolex... no matter how ‘good’ it may be perceived by some.
I could claim to still be 28 years old with a 32” waist and 20-20 vision but it wouldn’t make it so... no matter how good I still look ;)
Yes there is some truth in that but there is a lot you can do to protect yourself.
1. Only buy from someone you can track back. Either visit their house and take a crafty pic of their car on the drive and google their name/adress to make sure it all ties ups.
2. If they want to meet F2F in a town, conduct the transaction in a bank where there is top notch CCTV everywhere and just involve the cashier in a conversation about the Rolex which they will remember.
3. Take it into Rolex the same day and get it serviced. They will always take the back off to authenticate it if they are being paid for a service.
Not 100% foolproof but getting pretty close.
Golden rule is don't trust anyone and don't expect anyone to trust you and act accordingly.
Check out these videos from Watchfinder. These fakes are even better.

Oh come on, has anyone actually done this? Same as doing a second hand deal on a dealer's premises.
I am 100% certain that were I to walk into any of my local banks (London, for clarity) and begin what could only be described as a remarkably dodgy-looking transaction, they'd be asking us to get out pdq. Some would likely skip directly to calling the police. None of them would agree to it, even if I asked in advance.
