We are toast here. Scrum penalties. That's the game. Well done South Africa and amazing to see a black captain lift the cup for the first time.

South Africa are smashing it here, not an expert and I'll happily eat my words but England are in deep deep trouble.

Is the tactic that SA will run out of fuel in last 20 mins ? Looks like it's all going wrong atm.

Plenty of time for a change in fortunes. This isn't football. You get 7 points when you try and convert.

I know that much but England just seem to be making mistake after mistake, don't get me wrong I want them to win, but looks like SA are just taking every opportunity presented to them.

Still think England have a try in them - not sure if it will be enough though. SA would need to tire.

This is like beating Man City in an FA Cup semi final then losing the final to Aston Villa 😂

Ah well, back to the footie in a few hours.

Again the positive thing is in a world where hatred and xenophobia is rife politically we get a black captain lifting the World Cup

A lot of truth in that England played their final last week.
I think when England didn't go over in the 1st half after the intense pressure was a big blow.

Well done South Africa - deserved.

England out played and out bullied this game. Shame, but it's been a wonderful competition and England can hold their heads up high as First losers.

Springboks outplayed, outthought, and outmuscled England. They even showed more flair and attacking rugby. Hugely impressive and professional demolition job over an admittedly jaded and dispirited looking England squad.

Still it’s been a good tournament for them. Losing finalists not so bad. 20 points is a humping tho.

Well that was a shock. Talking to customers about today’s game in my taxi last night. When asked who I thought would win and by how much I said England by at least twenty points.
I’m a proud Welshman but I really did want to see England win and have the Cup in the northern hemisphere for the next four years.

I didn’t want ENGLAND to win - but then I didn’t want SOUTH AFRICA to win either. I wanted the best team to win and that happened. Good final.

The last two games played by both England and Wales just goes to show, you can’t judge your next performance on your last.
We lost against SA by just one penalty and then got rolled over by the All Blacks, and England beat the All Blacks convincingly and then got stuffed by SA.
    It’s a funny old game.

Indeed. South Africa played a fantastic game - their scrums exploited England's 'weakness', the tries were sublime and the defence was stoical. Quite simply, the better team won....

Played in a very sporting manner too. No complaints....

Congratulations South Africa; the stronger team won on the day. Gutted but that's sport. Be gracious in defeat and magnanimous in victory.

Fair summing up though it looked over by half time.

Sadly have to agree that the best team won. I think it was a combination of too many handling errors and Sinkler going off early. But that is the game for you.

When I congratulated the only South African in the pub and said that if we hadn't have knocked out the All Blacks for them last week it might have been a different story this week. He agreed wholeheartedly.

At leat we put our performance in the last world cup to bed. Bring on the Six Nations.

Im not a rugby follower but I felt the disappointment of the defeat. It would have been a great year considering the heights of the England cricket team and English football dominating Europe. I believe any final of this magnitude always creates a new generation of followers and players.......onwards and upwards.

Excuse my ignorance, but is this really the biggest deal?

Genuinely I'm not stirring here but it sounds more ignorant raising the fact that the captain is black... so what? Surely such a thing does more harm than good by polarising fans and separating the racists from the not.

Yes he's black, he's also a professional sportsman.

English football didn't really dominate the Czech Republic in October. Just saying like.
Cricket world cup was amazing tho, as was the ashes series. Thoroughly love English cricket atm.
