Bought 2 with the intention of keeping the one I like best, now can't decide...

So whilst at work I decided to buy two watches and the plan was to keep one and flip the other and wear in rotation with another watch.
That was the plan anyway, so I got home from work and picked them up and they are both really nice watches, so nice I’m struggling to decide what to do...

First watch is the Oris Aquis Staghorn LE.

Second watch is the Tudor Black Bay Blue Heritage.

Both very nice on the wrist, the Oris face is amazing and it’s a bit lighter and not as thick as the Tudor. The Tudor does look stunning in the blue with black face and the dial isn’t as busy as the Oris.

    Urghhhh decisions decisions...

Sell both and give that 16710 the wrist time it deserves.

Oh believe me the 16710 is getting worn, just wanted something else for those days with something a little more robust and not as valuable in case anything happened to it...

Those aren't in the same league, keep the Tudor.

I would keep the tudor because of its versatility

That Oris is amazing IMO, looking at the brand today as it happens and was very impressed overall. Nice problem to have.

depends how much money you want to raise - they are both nice watches

The Tudor presumably would bring you more money??

Quite like the Oris but I think the Tudor is a lot classier. And personally I love the touch of blue.

Fair enough. Keep the Oris then. Cheaper too I’d guess ?

  11. #11
I think the Tudor would sit along side and complement your GMT really well.

My vote goes to the Oris. In a world of dive watch sameness, I think Oris has more original design cues and the weekday is cleverly done.

That said, I don’t think there’s a wrong choice. Both are great.

Whilst the Tudor is nice the Oris would be the one I'd keep, nice decision to have to make, or keep both.

You can't beat Tudor for value.

Does that Oris have a lumed bezel?

Whilst I will always have a soft spot for Oris (my first horological love for many years and I still own my 1st), my gut feel is the "gimmicks" (day dial and orange tints) on the diver would become tiresome after a while, whereas the Tudor is classic and timeless. So, my vote would be for the Tudor. Plus, I imagine the Tudor timekeeping would be better (between those two models). Tudor would hold its value better too (if that matters) - depending on what discount you get I suppose.

    That Oris looks amazing.

I'd stick with that as the classic styling of the Tudor is too similar to your GMT. The Oris is a real change.

  17. #17
That Oris is really very impressive in terms of functionality compared to the rather dull Tudor. Vote flip Tudor.

The oris is a good looking watch. The Tudor is a bit more classic but for me, I’d keep the Oris. It’s just a bit different and that’s no bad thing

The Tudor hands down out of those two IMHO, it’s a lovely shade the bezel and is very easy to wear.

What you need is a navy BB58 which will hopefully come at Basel.

I'd keep whichever has the nicer bezel action, if you genuinely can't decide between them on looks or wrist comfort.

I don't know whether you wear straps, I do. The Oris loses on that basis, because of the inflexibility of those lugs

    Both have their charms.

Wear each for a week, then decide. Answer will be much clearer then.

I do like a NATO strap and that has played on my thoughts tbh, not a massive rubber strap fan which is the other option on the Oris.

The Oris looks more interesting and individual than the Tudor, nice as it is, but l'd consider brushing out the polished parts of the Oris bracelet links.

Oris all day long, something a little different to your ‘best’ watch.

    I like both

The Tudor is more classic though so I’d go for that one

Of the two, I would keep the Tudor, a lovely looking watch, but not much between the two.

Keep both for a while and see which one you wear more. It can only be a personal choice ok which one you like the best

  35. #35
Thanks for all the comments, I wore the BB yesterday and going out today so will wear that again, its bloody beautiful but it is very thick compared to the GMT, it does sit higher, that is one thing the Oris has in its favour that its only 12mm thick as well.

I'm starting to think I should get a BB58 and get the best of both worlds lol...

This is why wearing each for a week will help.

Sounds like the Tudor's thickness could be the deciding factor.

However, I find when I wear a watch for a week or so, some aspects I get used to and they disappear as issues; while others may rear their ugly heads.

Keep both? Personally I’d keep the Oris but then I’ve never handled the Tudor and some watches just grab you in the flesh. Keep whichever your gut tells you

Have to say for me the BB58 is a perfect size, agree about the thickness of the BB.

Glad to have helped. Hopefully Basel does give more options. The fake lume isn't for everyone. The navy BB is nice.

^^^^^ this - the BB58 is so versatile you wouldn't look back though of the 2 options I would take the Oris. The BB is just too thick.
