    Double Red Seadweller

I know its not everyones cup of tea but there is a Double Red Seadweller just appeared on Mike Woods Site that will blow your socks off. Virtually unworn and in amazing condition, one of the nicest I have ever seen, no price and I am afraid to ask. Well worth a look if Vintage Rolex is your thing.http://www.theoldwatchshop.com/rolex.html

He has put a few stunners up recently, he is a really decent guy who you know you can trust when it comes to vintage Rolex.

I bought my Rolex off him and when looking at it he said try this on and put a beautiful COMEX 1665 in my hand, we had a good chat and he showed me lots of other interesting things from the safe, was well worth the 380 mile round trip..

    Price must be substantial.

I hate any talk of DRSDs.
Very few watch related regrets but there was a moment when I was about to buy a yummy DSRD for what would now be
Considered a very good price but got distracted and it never happened
    I would not/cannot buy at today’s prices.

    My thoughts exactly.

Get em sold before October 31st!

There will be a correction soon IMO, it’s happening fast in the classic car world and all other luxury/cash investments will too.

The 1st November and we will all be one day older.

There does have to be a correct due shortly as prices are currently ridiculous on used Rolex.

    Is 65K substantial enough?

There is a European banking crash, worse than 2008, coming. I'm not planning on selling my Rolex.

Give it another 10/15 years and this will be a 100k watch, only 10 years ago there was a Comex on the SC for 23k box and papers
now that's got to be about 100k

Really don’t get the whole vintage thing. It’s fair enough if it’s a family piece or you’ve had it from new and is tied up with your memories etc. To me it looks old and worn with flaky hands, poor lume and potential loss of water resistance. I would rather have a new one.

Shouldn't be too long now. The EU is in the financial sh1t and the US trying to prevent too much infection. Short term bonds paying more than long term, EU printing money but interest rates too low to exert control. If or when it goes it'll be like dominos falling.

When the market moves......they have a reason. So few watches for sale on his site for quite some months, then a relative excess. Why?

Mike will be pouring a stiff whisky now the vintage Rolex gurus have rubbished his latest offering.

No, I respect his position in the vintage Rolex hierarchy, but a sudden glut of otherwise difficult to find pieces, must raise an eyelid.

Why would this raise an eyelid?

I don’t know either way but I would think there would be a fair chance of the watch being sold on commission .

Mike is a prolific (and I mean prolific) with the older Rolex Sports stuff.

It’s not some sort of smear on his character.
It’s common business practice for car and watch sales.
The business may or may not want to plough a large amount of finance on a watch/car that could take a while to shift .
I know MW has more vintage stuff than we could shake a stick at so I’m not inferring some sort of sharp practice.

Agreed, Mike makes a point of saying that both these watches are offered for sale from a private collection so could well be someone cashing in their pension pot. Who knows, and more importantly who cares.

They might be from Mike's own collection, just not sold through the business so therefore no VAT to pay on their sale. He could be using his site as an advertising platform only.

    Very common practice.

Maybe not for Mike or jewellers in general, but for business owners I believe it is reasonably common. I've certainly seen it done several times before.
