So long as they hit the indices, they can be as plain as you like! I hate to see the adverts of the quartz watches missing the markers all the way round. Yukk!
Just to say that I I like how some manufacturers finish off the seconds hand on their watches, these three immediately come to mind.

That Chris Ward Trident hand is what started me off on this hobby when they first came out....
Cheers,

Yeah I like a nice details on a second hand. As much as I lost interest in CW years ago, I still think the second hand on of their trident takes some beating. The Breitling anchor is especially lovely too, perhaps one of the best.
I like the second hand of the Alexander Shorokhoff also which incorporates the A from their brand logo, and is also nicely shaped being slightly fatter towards the middle, gently tapering off to the tip. Small details but type of thing I notice.

For me I would get rid of it altogether. Hate when it misses and have yet to use mine for anything.

I rather like the simple leaf on the chronograph seconds hand on this.
I dont like Breitling marks personally too showy for me
Zenith star.

The Farer 'A'
Bulova...
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Doesn’t bother me one whit if the second hand misses the markers.
I think it was Paul (Walkerwek) who said it is quite difficult to get it to line up perfectly when attaching the second hand.
I, too, would be quite happy without one, wasn’t it George Daniels who said something along the lines of to make a good watch perfect just remove the second hand?
I hate the bond watches Omega does with the 007 on the second hand, I think that's over the top.

For clarity I'm not really bothered about whether it hits markers, simply saying that the decoration at the non-business end on some seconds hands appears in my eyes at least to be a nice finishing touch.
As for that Zenith star #10, is it my eyes or is the register at six o'clock going straight through it?
