Tudor release black bay Chrono “Black” for the rugby World Cup

I purchased one after seeing it at AD today.

Would I prefer a ceramic Daytona, duh of course, can I afford a ceramic daytona, yes, but would I pay 20k for a ceramic Daytona, absolutely 100% no way...

So where does this fit...not sure, but I like it enough from seeing it to buy it today...

The watch has defo enough going on to hold its own, silly price on chrono beginning but I would say this is more justified vs harrods edition

S&G version is so much nicer IMO. Will be worthless once ABs knocked out of RWC anyway!!!!!

The dark black bay looked decent on the grey nato, this would too I think.

Don’t think I’ve seen a Tudor grey nato

I think it may command a premium of say £500 over RRP, due to limited status but cis is the high initial price point (£600 more than normal bbchrono), I cant see it rising further than that. Be interesting to see

Also seems a lot better value in £ than in € or $, they are working on a very old exchange rate before £ weakening.

    Here is another nice pic

This photo really does show how much this watch needs white hands, not steel, you really have to look to see them

Very different to the stainless steel which I compared side by side at AD. Feels more modern, smaller (14.4mm thickness vs 14.95mm normal version) and with the non rivet bracelet. Apparently the PVD has been applied very thick by Tudor, as would be expected.
    It’s thinner?!

Yep, according to watchesbysjx the dome crystal is made thinner, so that enabled dial to sit higher and get closer to the crystal and so the movement also moves further up in the case.

I didn’t realise this until I purchased the watch and afterwards read the watchesbysjx review, during the comparison at the AD, we thought it was just the visual effect of being blacked out versus steel, but yes it is actually physically thinner

By half a mm. Not sure anyone would notice that

Do we know if that change applies to new steel ones, too? A strange thing to do for a 1000 odd pieces... will check out the SJX piece, thank you.

No idea, I could imagine these changes being incorporated in the next iteration of the steel, perhaps at Basel world. But that would be pure speculation.

Fully stickered one on chrono24 from Trilogy Jewellers Hatton Garden. Price £7,450!

Is it normal practice for an AD to sell a new watch for well above suggested retail?

Are you implying that Trilogy is a Tudor AD?

There is nothing on their or Tudor's website (that I can see) to suggest that.

The watches are only available via an authorized AF and it’s listed as new. So either it’s not new or if it is then they are an AD? Not sure what your point is

No it's not, but Trilogy don't appear to be an AD.

It's probably simply wrongly described: it's unworn, not new. In addition, the papers are described as 'unnamed', not 'unstamped'.

Thanks for clarifying . I had visions of me rocking up to my AD and getting charged £7k

Seems like unlike the Tudor Harrods, this might actually be a real limited 'limited' piece. Wonder if it will be a limited piece that eventually doesn't hold a lot of value (like the Tudor Bucherer) though.

Well I’ve talked myself into it. So I will be possibly buying it next week. I see ac111111 has one pictured on sc with rubber on. Does anyone know if it comes with that?

Straight onto a nato and off for a walk

Interestingly the AD made mention that ceramic bezel could well be coming for Tudor. Not sure how I feel about that.

As for the Chrono dark it’s very versatile re straps - and I like it a lot. Impossible to photo well for someone like me of limited ability

Already in the Pelagos and makes sense to extend it across the range. It will come with a price increase as well I imagine.

Excellent spot. It is indeed a Pav. Ukudu leather I think it was - looks amazing on it

Got one also today, I had given up and already moved on so need to make up my mind whether I'm going to keep it or sell it.

I was pretty lucky as I got a low number "70".

Don't know nothing about rugby but apparently the player is from the year 1897.

For me the PVD finish completely ruins an otherwise nice dial and design. Too tonka toy.

Just checked mine and it was for Tiny Hill. Quite a colourful player that was once famously dropped for being too physical v the Springboks

Spookily I got the call that I would get mine on 2nd October, on the same day he died. They wore black arm bands in the Canada match for him apparently. Nice to have the back story.

I just found out the cost of my run in service for my new M5. And as a result I can't justify another new watch. So I have one of these going spare with a low number (70). Since I only have 100 posts on here please DM me if interested as I don't have enough to post it on sales corner with pics.

I should have known the service cost of an M5 wouldn't be cheap lol.

So you don’t have access to SC so you advertise it for sale here? Wow. Good luck

Must say I’m staggered how much I love this watch. Had reservations till it started growing on me - then I got a chance at one and haven’t regretted shelling out the £ for a second.

I don’t think so. During World Cup there was still some limited availability but now none unless buying grey/used. 3 on eBay 6.5k, 7.5k and 8.5k and 22 () on ch24 starting from 6k. Rrp was £4260 so will prob settle around 5.5k maybe

Mine not stickered up and in the safe. Instead it’s lived mostly on the wrist lol

I clunked mine and in close inspection not even a micro mark on it. I think it’s a pretty good application technique that’s been used
