    Wearing my favourite again

My D serial LV was bought new by me in 2005 and was my daily wearer for almost a Decade until I bought an LVC.
I put it back on today after several years and i really do prefer it to the ceramic version.
There’s a mark on the insert which I don’t remember doing but it doesn’t look too bad considering I’m fairly hard on my watches!

    That's a modern classic. Enjoy!

PS: You're lucky to have it purchased back in the day. Have you looked at the current prices? Crazy.

Today’s prices are ridiculous, certainly not worth it IMO.

I agree that the current prices are ridiculous.

My favorite LV sub, I have a Steinhart Sub in green just to kill the bug.

    Looks really great.

I have been looking at LVs for sale recently. What is the significance for the serial number letter?

    There’s lots of different serials.
The first were Y then F for 2003 (the anniversary year.)
Then there’s engraved rehaut and random serials.
    There’s 3 ticks and 5 ticks
    Pointed 4 and flat
    Olive and lime inserts
    Font position etc. etc.
All a load of nonsense really but can mean several thousand pounds more depending on what it is...

I wore mine for almost a decade from 2008, as the value increased I wore it less and less over the last few years, and replaced it as my daily a couple of years ago. I really do need to send it to St James but am worries that they'll do something with it that I don't want (polish, change hands, swap the bezel)

In that case you need to specify what you don’t want. Last time my Sub went to RSC Irequested they did not polish it, they were happy to comply.

I much prefer these older Rolexes to the ceramic versions.

If you request movement service only they are happy to do that.
It’s usually stated in the paperwork when they estimate.
