Certainly doesn't look like one of those cheap and nasty ones that appear on FB or the bay. Is it from a sporting event, Golf or Tennis perhaps or from an ADs store. If you friend can recall where it came from it could add to the value if it was an official one at some stage in its life.

The fact that it has some sort of Rolex Quartz movement makes it look like it was an official issue back in the day.
