New Seiko turtle arrival (Great White Shark) and quick SOTC

I've had a few Seiko turtles in the past and I wasn't planning on buying another but the new Save The Ocean (Great White Shark) SRPD21K1 looked too good to resist.
This turtle has a beautiful metallic dial with wave pattern and an upgraded bezel with etched numbers and concentric grooves and looks a bit like a record.
The second hand on this model is also different than the one on the other turtles with shark fin at one end, there's also a shark fin at 8 o'clock on the dial! The hands are brushed too.

I'm really pleased with this one, the bezel and crown action feels a step above the other turtles, even the alinement is good!

The watch looks better than in my pictures, it really is stunning.

I was looking for a not too expensive watch with a bit of colour to complete my 6 watch box and for the first time I like all of them!
2 divers, 2 pilot watches a chrono and a marine watch that I'll also use as a dress watch.
I'm not saying I'm done but I am for a while I think.

Possibly my favourite turtle dial that one! Nice pick up.

    Nice balanced collection as well!

Thanks, yes I'm loving the dial, gorgeous shade of blue and nice wave texture.

Forgot to mention, I got 12% off at Goldsmiths with this code:

Lovely watch and a cracking collection!

The code still works so £378.40 for the OP's watch:

I like that Seiko a lot. I know there are a lot of Turtle variants now, and some aren't all that lovely, but Seiko have hit the mark with that blue dial. That one and the green-dialed Hulk-a-like are two I'd really enjoy wearing!

That really is gorgeous! I've recently received the Dawn Grey version from sales corner and it's not been off my wrist since. I think Seiko have nailed it with these two variants.

I found a superb photo (not mine) that captures the bezel detail

It was a toss up between this one and the new green Sumo but this won out on price. As I already had the Oris Aquis I didn't want to spend too much on another diver.

I've had the PADI version, very nice, I wore mine on a blue and red stripped nato.

FWIW records don't have concentric grooves, they only have one groove on each side.

Yes obviously or it wouldn't play properly. I knew as soon as I wrote it that someone would pick up on it. Obviously I meant it looked similar, not that a record has them. I was merely trying to describe the look of the bezel, sorry.

But it definitely looks very much like a nice piece of vinyl, concentric or not!

Lovely watch. Seiko have brought out some great turtles recently and this is right up there. I love both the dial and bezel. Spot on

Yes, the case width of 45mm does make it seem like it's too big but the bezel is much smaller than the case making it wear smaller. It wears pretty much like an SKX my wrist size is only 6.75".

Thanks David, I'm quite happy with all the watches at the moment and hopefully won't be looking at anything else for a while at least.

I like the dial, cracking colour. Not sure on the hour hand or it being 45 mm. Massive improvement on the PADI diver though thanks for the review.

That Seiko is a stunner, what a great little (well considered) collection you have there sir, a pleasant change to see Oris featuring in someones SOTC & I've always been a fan of Stowa.

Thanks you. I have tried to balance it as well as I can and after 3 Swiss and 2 German watches, I decided the last one in the box would be Japanese.
I love Oris and Stowa, I've had a few from both manufacturers over the years.

I think the Turtle's are fantastic value watches. I've been wearing my one on holiday for the past week and for most people they're as much as you ever need in a watch. That good.

Question - how is the bracelet on these? Otherwise nice SOTC :)

P.S. Loving that turtle! If I didn’t have a PADI already, I’d be buying this.

The bracelet is okay, not great but I wasn't expecting it to be. It's perfectly fine for a watch this price. I've had a few turtles but I've usually taken the bracelet straight off and worn it on a nato. This time I decided to keep it on the bracelet, it wasn't too hard to size, maybe a little fiddly as it has the pin and collar system.
I wore it all day yesterday and I found it really comfortable.

Funnily enough I did google it and read about such records after my concentric grooves comment was pointed out and was going to come back but I thought I better leave it

Thanks for that! Not a bracelet fan either, but was curious. I would normally go with nato too, but have it on an Uncle Seiko waffle. Works really well
