    REVIEW: JLC Geophysic Universal Time

I picked this up on a trade quite recently - but have not had time to complete another write up.

    Technical Details (from official site):

    • Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre : 772
    • Case : Stainless Steel, Water-resistance : 5 bar, Diameter : 41.6mm
    • Functions : Hour - Minute, Jumping hour, True second, World time
    • Recto Hands Bâton à facette
    • Movement : Automatic, self-winding, Components : 274, Vibrations per hour : 28800, Jewels : 36, Barrel : 1, Height : 7.13 mm
    • Dial : Blue, Lacquered, Appliqued hour-markers
    • Strap/bracelet: Leather

I received it in new condition still with stickers intact.

    Unusual Functions:

World time display including daylight savings.
true-seconds - second hand drive is designed to jump exactly in 1second intervals to allow for accurate timing (just like a quartz watch!!)
lacquered world view map - rotating 24h disk with day/night white/blue marker
illuminated dots on rehaut (not on dial)
    lovely movement!

    a taster pic:

    .. more later!!

Ive always liked this watch, to the extent that I have been close to purchasing a few times but, I just cant get past those 2 screw heads on the dial.

Apart from that I’m a big fan.

Looking forward to reading more. It's a watch I've admired for a while so will be good to have an owners view.

Oh gosh - I've never noticed those screws, but don't think they'd bug me that much. Anyone know what they're holding? A testament to the designers for keeping them discreet though.

Overall this is a very well thought out World Timer that seems very functional - the one thing that I'm not sure about is the colour tone. The watch comes across a bit too 'cool' for my liking.

My guess is that they hold on the inner dial, as internal screws to hold the dial feet would have to be right inside the movement. Just a guess though. I’m looking forward to Martyn’s write up in due course.

I was looking for the asking price, until I realised I wasn't in the sales forum... That's an awesome piece of horology.

I checked on the JLC website - for a 'classic' maintenance service for this movement by JLC is about £750

    Some more pictures...

I have this on SC at the moment - but I think I must be a bit mad to let this go. I may have to re-think..

How could you do this to me. I now can't unsee the screws. In fact that's all I can see

Jokes aside, beautiful photos. Not my style, but I totally see the beauty
