What the heck did he hit? It looks like some kind of magic act! There was nothing in the track that would have thrown him up in the air!

Sausage kerb took front wing off, instantly no downforce and a launch ramp

Pretty impressive safety design on that car.
Went end over end lengthways, in a Mk1 Escort in my more ‘adventurous’ days. A lot slower than that and a lot more painful!!
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Perfect example as to why the introduction of Halos on single seaters was a good thing.

Why was he off track in the first place? It looked like they were all under the safety car (watched with no sound)

But while the car is in the air, it looks like it has a fully intact front wing?

    It does.

The car was launched because the floor caught the front of the sausage kerb, you can see the remnants of the floor falling away from the car in the air.

I watched it on the F1 qualifying show; apparently he hit the rubber kerb which had previously been damaged and was loose.

They were immediately removed and drivers told that they’d get penalties for exceeding the track limits.

Amazing how he just walked away though!

    "It's a very serious crash"

    Slight understatement.

Saw this yesterday and feared the worst, quite a testament to the design and build of the chassis, and the also the halo.

The 2 occupants of this cessna both survived....I was involved with the company operating this aircraft and we were tasked with the possible recovery of the wreck.

When we first got the pics we were astounded anyone got out alive.

Indeed. It was a night nav exercise a misidentified waypoint had them tracking and decending into high ground.

A supernatural Higher Power, keeping them safe. Well, apart from the crash itself.
