I disagree with Paul here - people should have the absolute right to know who they’re dealing with.
Each to their own but think you should just have one ID and if there is a technical issue then by all means use another one but be honest and upfront about who you actually are and or were.
Agree, could get around ‘villain’ posts by creating second identity.

Might not be nice to call/stereotype someone a drunken expat but I'm really struggling to see the racism in it.
What's the stereotype about Scottish people being tight with the money or the Irish being "thick micks" got to do with drunken expats? Are the English the only ones allowed to be drunken expats, is that why it's being considered racist?
For what it's worth I don't think there is any subjectivity on the subject, Ally was clearly a racist.

Stereo typing is a form of racism. If, say, the Irish are continuously ridiculed for being thick, the result is that mud sticks and they find it more difficult to get a decent job because they have to overcome the image of being thick. In Europe it is the Belgians who are labled thick purly as a good natured joke but it's not so nice when you are a Belgian.
The term boozed up British expats is a direct attack on hundreds of thousands of decent retired people who work hard to get where they are and are never ever seen drunk. It is racially based and it is bloody offensive.
It is a term used regularly in the BP and will be defended as banter but these same people then use the lable against someone else. They are being hypocritical and they know it.
No, racial stereotypes are a form of racism. The term expat is not reserved exclusively for English people so calling someone boozed up expats cannot be racist. It relates to everyone.

That is 100% correct but over in the BP the term British expat is often used to promote the image of some boozed up British retiree.
In fairness, most of the expats I've met are boozed-up. They live in Spain etc. because the booze there is cheap. Not a criticism, it's their life not mine, and people make their own choices.
In that case the TV show Benidorm is totally racist as the stereotypes of Brits abroad is awful.
Similarly they shouldn't report on European football matches involving British teams as the drunken violence and massive racism of the English fans is very racist towards the Brits.
I'd complain to Ofcom.

I’ll probably stop deriding expats when they use for themselves the name they use for every other national living in the UK, ‘immigrants’.
It will remind them that immigrants are not a threat but a chance for the country. Either because they come loaded and old, or empty handed but with a will to make a life for themselves.
And scumbags are scumbags, their nationality has nothing to do with it. But then, maybe to some that’s racist towards scumbags.
“Expats” used for Brits retiring in the EU has colonial connotations, and illustrates rather well the arrogance that Petrus (often) mentions.
