My son want's to wear watches.

Well after year's of trying to get my 22 year old son into watches, to no avail.
All of a sudden he has asked to wear a couple of mine!!
1st of the bat was a Seiko perpetual calender, as the Hirsch leather strap it's on matched his tie.
Then this morning, " Dad can I wear one of your blue watches, as I am wearing a blue tie today?"
Well, my 1st thought was there goes my SMPc for a few days!!
But he opted for the Seiko Samurai Save The Ocean, on Crafter Blue dual colour.
I am at a loss, any thoughts??

Cool, you have an abundance of gift ideas now. It’s an exciting time.

My brother asked where the watches I didn’t wear much were. I showed him the case and he proceeded to shop there. I was ok with it, I didn’t really wear them and they were ones I had moved up from. It’s the least I can do after what I did to his car thirty years ago. He had a Chevelle SS, had is the key word.

His son is 13 and has a few smaller ones I got him. He has his own display case for them and takes care of them. He is into Gucci, Seiko, Citizen and Fossil right now. He will develop though and he likes asking me questions about my watches. He hasn’t asked to wear or borrow any yet, thank god. This kid could destroy a tank.

I didn't get into watches until i started researching how they were made and which brands did what and how etc...
was in my late twenties by then - so don't lend him expensive ones he will not look after them as well as one he's bought himself

When my Son was coming up to 18 I asked him if he wanted a watch for his birthday. “Why would I want a watch? I’ve got a mobile phone for the time” came the reply.

Two years later he worked out that a watch is actually quite useful to have. He “borrowed” one of my Seikos. I’ve not worn it since, it’s been on his wrist every day. Well, apart from the time he smashed it up falling over on a walk home in the middle of the night! One of our fellow TZ members did a fabulous job repairing it.

Now, aged 22, he’s saving to buy his first premium brand watch. Although what he wants changes from one week to the next. We’ll see where that ends...

My son has only recently become a little more interested; and I loaned him one of my G-Shocks for a school trip. It came back in one piece amazingly. My daughter however has informed me that I'm not allowed to look at watch shops anymore because I have too many.....no hope with that one!

Last Sunday I spent the day at Bletchley Park with our 14 year old daughter. She’s always shown an interest in history and I was dead chuffed when she said that she’d like to wear something vintage for the outing.

Great compliment to you too, Sir: You were very industrious yesterday. Rattled off 13 posts between 8.56am and 9.26am. Rediscovered your mojo just over 12 hours later and banged off another 19 inane one sentence utterances between 9.45pm and 11.01pm. That’s impressive speed posting.
