Thread: Creamed Mushrooms?

    Creamed Mushrooms?

Whatever happened to tinned Creamed Mushrooms? Not been able to find any for ages now. Can you still buy them anywhere?

Used to like them on toast or in a Tuna Fish pie.

Now there’s a blast from the past.

Used to love it in a breville toasted sandwich. Nice.

I make my own. Chop your fungi up small, fry in butter with a bit of sugar added. Add milk to pan and simmer until it all renders down thickish. You can add a bit of cream or creme fraische at the end. Alternatively, use full fat milk.
One of my favorite snacks with brown bread and butter.

Add a splash of brandy before the milk also a shallot, garlic and tarragon at the start.
