JAYB on Pistonheads - for the PH'ers...

I know there's a huge cross-over between tz and PH, but for the regulars and old hands, JAYB has just made a post in the Lounge about 'checking out'.

If you're not a PH'er, feel free to ignore this. ..

Thanks for the heads up - that's painful to read. We've both been knocking around there since the very early days when it was mainly a TVR owners club forum.

    Thanks for letting us know.

I met Richard once long ago and had a go in his 8.32. More recently his unique taste in watches brought a refreshing change to the swathes of Seikos and Rolexes on the Wrist Check threads.

A sad read. I don’t know whether it’s better or worse the short time from his post to the above comment.

Indeed. Not easy reading. Very sad.

That's very sad, and really fast. How old was he? RIP.

Brutal ! Was not expecting the sudden ending but I suppose given the circumstances it might have been for the best.

    Terribly sad.

I didn't know him, but feel for his family. So very sad. 48 is no age to die. He seemed like a real character too, a life and soul of the party sort of guy. Cancer, what an indiscriminate barsteward.

Blimey that was sudden. At least he had the chance to post about his latest Nubeo watch on the Wrist Check thread and get some nice responses before he died. He did it with his usual style and good humour.

I was welling up at my desk today. Never met him but loved his style. There have been a few that have passed too early...

Terribly sad - sounds like a great guy.

I had no idea that there was such a large crossover between PH and this place.

Yeah, the watch forum there can be good and without tz snideiness.

I don't use PH much (surprisingly given I'm an old petrolhead) but read the thread and as others say, awful, heartbreaking to read.

It shows that life is so precious and you just take a lot for granted.

It also makes me understand even less how things are/can be on here. Sad indictment really. Live and enjoy your life, don't spend it arguing and such like on internet forums

    RIP to the fella

That's awful. he was a regular contributor in the watch forum over there and seemed like a nice guy. I didn't know him other than the occasional chatty post in that forum.

    On the positive side:
1/ We all have to go. I'd rather go like that, quickly and with minimal suffering than a slow agonising fight. I'd never opt to end it all early, but "Bam!" and gone certainly has something to be said for it.
2/ Thankfully I didn't know him anywhere near well enough to be in any danger of inheriting one of his watches.

RIP JAYB. Despite your taste in watches, you'll be missed.
