Each and every watch above is just lovely.

My Comex 1665 twins (note 600m depth rating, not 610m) :

GMT 6542 with original Bakelite bezel :

Milgauss 1019 (a bigger watch than you might imagine) :

    Comex 16600 "Hollywood" :

    DRSD :

One of my better mil subs :

One without its original sword hands......but a 5517 with maxi dial :

    16800 Comex patina-stic :

One of four 1655 Explorer IIs, each as hideous, illegible and unloved as the other :

6536-1 with original bezel (note red triangle and lack of minute markers 0-15) :

    1016 frog's foot :

Another Milgauss 1019 (note larger ROLEX font) :

Sold this one --- hated it --- but will always celebrate the fact that Rolex UK noted the dial in writing as a "Paul Newman" :

Double SWISS and under-line PCG 5513, presented to the owner (and crew) of an early 1960s America's Cup team :

    Great White :

    Another 1016 :

    I have some others.

The 6542 GMT does it for me there.
This thread reminds me why it’s much nicer spending your hard earned on this stuff than a soulless ceramic.

Thankyou; it may well be my favourite out of all those you see and indeed those you don't.

Credit to Mrs. M, who modelled in all the wrist-shots.....

Jeez! I had some idea that Haywood would come and blow us out of the water

Some absolute stunners there and end game watches. The 6542 and 6536 are just wonderful but I'm a sucker for a full spec milsub it has to be my ultimate (but unachievable) grail watch

If I ever win the Euromillions I'm driving straight to Liverpool. Some real beauties here with all of the charm my ceramics don't have.

The 6542 is in stunning condition and the 1019 larger font is simply sublime

Some of the most lovely and desirable watches for on the thread.
After HM, feels pointless to post pics of mine.

No no no, you must post!

Sometimes it is the simpler model, a 1675 or 5513 with perfect details captured in a brilliant light, that is the most striking.

    Agreed
Cost in vintage isn’t an indicator of beauty for me.

It was my worry too, but lets be honest, nobody can keep a watch for more than a couple of years and it's a beauty and so original and I like the black handset. If you can find a good one go for it. They are unbelievable value compared to other more mass produced models

    ???????...strange statement!

I wouldn`t be put off owning a Rolex quartz, but I`d like some reassurance that it could be supported. 30 years isn't old in watch terms.

The Rolex ones seem now to be a little expensive - GP did a similar style and they can be found at a third of the Rolex price - and didn't GP pioneer the Quartz movement in Switzerland and was it used by Rolex and others.

Even so I would like the Rolex OQ with that bracelet, to wear as a "dress" watch - there is one on eBay at £3k - which I think is over the odds price-wise .......

This should arrive tomorrow curtesy of a Forum member, (thanks Jon) - will have to wait a while to wear it as I'm on holiday - but I'm sure it will be worth the wait

Hopefully the start of an OP collection

This thread is making me feel even worse about not going for the birth month full set 5513 that Blowers had 4/5 years ago in the misguided hope that a birth year Fat Lady would be obtainable.

It feels a little pointless after Haywood’s contributions, but if we keep this going maybe we can tempt Mike Wood to come and play.

Do those of you who wear the vintage divers regularly find that, in spite of their age, that they retain their water resistance?

I ask because I like very much the idea of a vintage Rolex diver, but I wear a diver now because, amongst other things, I like the convenience of never needing to take my watch off. I’d hate to rely on a vintage in that way and ruin it so to the best of your experience, can their water resistance be relied on even now?

In my experience NO, I wouldn’t trust any valuable vintage watch with a plexiglas to be waterproof. A knock can induce micro cracking at the base of the plexi which you would never know about until they start to propagate. There will be plenty who claim to swim regularly with a vintage diver but I wouldn’t be one of them.

We seem to be missing a few. Here are my pair of 16550.

First up a black Rail Dial (with original bezel)

The second is a Creme Dialled “Non-hyphen”- which is a complete watch.
One of only 6 I know of. Previously owned by an undertaker so always set 5 minutes fast.
