    Show Us Your Vintage Rolex

Had a quick search and couldn’t see a similar thread.
I know there’s a lot of guys keen on the vintage Rolex stuff on here but like to play their cards close to their chest.
The vintage Rolex forums tend to be American based so thought it would be good to see guys on here’s collections-only current please as we will all have said goodbye to some.
I’m going to call vintage 4 digit and 5 digit matte dials though if you feel like including other stuff you feel should be in then go ahead.

I’ll start with my current 4
    1665 Great White Seadweller-1979

    1680 red sub - 1972

    5513 Sub -1972

    1016 Explorer -1972

All these were got from guys on Tz I may add.
    So let’s see them !

Why is it called a Great White? I might as well learn something while looking at these nice watches.

As far as I know because it was the 1665 after the double red 1665 so it had all white writing as opposed to the red text.

Cheers. Not sure I'll ever need that tidbit of info, but it's nice to know.

I'm very aware of how little I know when you talk to the proper vintage geeks.

My first and only Rolex a nice Precision from around 1973. The bracelet and case make it wear larger than a usual 34mm case I think

Both lovely and rare to have 2 of the matte dial 16750(I only want one)
Big difference having the quickset date feature too.

Funny that. I'd say the DRSD is pretty much watch perfection.

Certainly has a certain beauty and style - IMHO very attractive - been looking for a good one at the right price - but I read, (correct me if I am wrong), that only Rolex can service them, and I wonder when they are 30 years old that will stop - presumably there are others who can service these Rolex Quartz

Bob I think I’ve said it before but that 6263 is absolutely gorgeous. Didn’t you have a red sub too?

It’s funny how individual watches can stick in the mind... I’ve said how lovely that is before, and it hasn’t gone off since then!

Yep, it was passed onto a great forum member who has fitted a superb insert to it.

I think your 1675 is maybe my favourite.
Case in amazing nick and shades on the insert are amazing.
No wonder your reluctant to wear that one.

Yep it’s a bit special Jim, it’s the only vintage I have heard of that the bezel lock still works and the bezel serrations are so sharp they almost cut you, that’s what laying in a drawer for 40+ years does.

This I've only had about a year and as soon as I picked it up I sent it of to Rolex for the full works and its still only warranty :)
