I am thinking about swapping the 7a26 movement in my SKX 779 to the NH36A, as I did with my SKX009. Has anyone done this and are there any complications? In particular I was thinking about the grey plastic movement holder that is fitted to the NH36A. For the SKX009 I had to replace this with the original black one. Will this be necessary for the SKX779?

I think you will need a crown (with stem) from the later models. The 7s stem doesn't fit the newer movements.
Can't help you with the movement holder as I haven't done a monster (only SKX007s). I would guess you'll have the same issue though.
Thank you. Yes I was aware of the need for a new stem. I fitted a stem and crown from an SARB059 when I did a movement swap to my SKX009. The new NH36A movement comes with a stem but I wish to retain the original crown. This will require cutting the new stem to the correct length. This is new to me so am looking forward to the challenge! I have ordered stem tongs and pliers for the job. Also epoxy glue for fitting the crown to the stem. I will have many tools after this but good tools make a Job easier I think!
The movement holder on the NH35/NH36 = 3 mm
On SKX, Monster, Turtles, etc. they're all 4 mm
Solution 1 = swapping the movement holder
Solution 2 = take a caseback from a basic Seiko 5 (like SNK809, SNZH55, etc)
That is exactly the information I was looking for. Thank you very much!
