Kudos for not adding 10mm to the diameter.

I like the look of it. It's the first Hamilton that has appealed to me. I like the simple dial and the size.

Very nice, glad they made it a manual wind

Love the dial texture but at 36mm I don't think i'll be getting one.

I really like this. Dial is really nice. Price seems a bit on the high side unless I’m missing something in the spec.

That is very nice but a bit expensive.

Agreed but actually at 36mm it's slightly small. Also it's too expensive for what it is, or maybe I'm too used to Eddie's prices.

The problem with most of these "Heritage" and "Reissues" is that they loose 50% of their Retail price, (Euros 795??), almost as soon as they are launched, and with this watch, lots of the "originals" were made and used models are for sale at below the price of this "reissue" model

For me the reissue looks really good but it is too expensive by a few hundred £'s and in any case I would always prefer the original from the 1970's

I would think that this time next year used models of this reissue will be on sale for a few hundred pounds

I didn't realise the originals were that readily available but then saw listing like this on eBay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fully-Ove...wAAOSwc8ZdTqKN Np affiliation BTW.

I'd be happy (maybe happier) with an original or holding out for a price drop on the new. I still think it is a handsome watch although, on reflection, I don't like the case back. I agree is is overpriced.

I suppose they couldn't or didn't want to replicate the original caseback as the 70s version was a front-loader - the movement was accessed through the crystal, unless I'm mistaken.

I have often thought about getting another W10 and would still prefer the real thing compared to this, especially as (today at least) you can still get the real thing for less than the modern re-issue...

Maybe I had better have another look, just in case this gets popular :)

Great looking watch. 3 to 4 mm too small IMHO.

I suppose the new version should be more dependable and lower maintenance.

I think £400 is the most I would pay for this. I don’t really see why it’s so much more than the field mechanical.

    Very nice though

Better off with an original when the prices are a kick in the arse apart.

I see no reason to buy this re-issue. The originals are relatively plentiful, hence relatively cheap (you can get a really nice one for circa £500) and are very reliable when serviced. Oh, and better looking and have some history, the "MECHANICAL" is awful on the dial.

  20. #20
Very nice for those who don't want to go vintage and prefer to have a brand new watch with the same vibe.

I agree that the "mechanical" on the dial doesn't look that good and the price is a bit steep, with a street price of less the 500€/£ it seems more reasonable.

When you can pick up an original with real military history for less then I’m not sure why I’d go for this - I found a rarer Hamilton Geneve from 75 for half the price of the reissues rrp. Just as a heads up, even with my skinny 6,75” wrists it wears smaller than most 36mm watches I own.

I like it but no broad arrow and a Smiths military does it better and cheaper.

Looks great.... but for > € 700 I'd expect a nice sapphire and not mineral crystal.

Anyone know the UK price yet? Quite like it.

It’s a nice idea but too expensive for what it is
As said before on the thread an original is cheaper and does not have the daft script on the dial
I also prefer the white second hand on the original

Get an original, much nicer in my opinion, apart from the "mechanical" on the dial the back is also a mish mash.

    Cool

    Very nice Collection there.

I wonder how the mineral glass compares with the original acrylic... and the dial looks more textured than the original.

Looks decent enough, but I’ve found all modern Hamilton military watches to have ridiculously reflective dials/crystal. My mate had the mechanical field and it was reasonable enough, nothing amazing. He said the timekeeping on it was really poor and ended up moving it on. Not sure what this has over and above that to justify a cost of £750? Seems very steep to me for a mechanical watch with a mineral crystal.

  35. #35
I much preferred all of the details on the original. i love the back of the originals case - every time i look at it i wonder how on earth you get to the movement... and there are so many other details, and last but not least all the bumps and scapes ...

Just noticed something else about it... the brushing is vertical, the original was horizontal!

Good spot with the brushing of the case. I reckon this is a poorly conceived re-issue all around.

    That looks nice.

How do people keep the crystal / acrylic on the original scratch free, i have small surface scratch....

Agree the reissues price is rather high,I've just been offered a 1973 one which I'd prefer over a reissue.

I bought one of these in the EJ sales for £600 but returned it because I just thought it would get no wear. It was a nice watch though.

Funnily enough, every time I tried one on at different jewellers, each salesperson enthusiastically told me that smaller watches were the new trend.

If you want a reissue W10 the Timefactors offer looks better to me.

If you want a Hamilton W10 I’d buy an original.

Exactly. They’re incredibly comfortable due to their low mass. Mine’s now my ‘lounge’ watch but I know it’s good for hauling trash and other chores should the siren call!

a nice looking piece and what holds me back ...no sapphire and its price tag. For the same amount I'll go for Oris 65

I've got one and love it. I wanted to be able to wear it and not worry about getting it wet - unlike my vintage ones.
