which G Shock should I buy - G Shock experts?

My son wants one for on holiday - just a plain simple one on the traditional shape and has to be black rubber/plastic stuff

    How about this one

but there is this "Full Metal" model???

I’d go with the classic DW-5600e. Amazon have them at £62 at the moment.

The full metal versions are rather expensive for a holiday watch imho.

The one you linked to above it cool: It has a nice moon phase and tide feature.

I've got that version in both red and white,

Or the GW-M5610 which is the solar charge/radio sync’d version of the 5600.

I got one a couple of months ago for about £65 on Amazon, it was a special deal at the time, but I’d guess if you shop around you might still find a reasonable deal?

Agreed. When the price difference is so small the M5610 over the 5600 is a no-brainer.

    DW-5600E if you’re a purist. Otherwise GW-5610.

5000,5600 or 5610 should do the trick

My personal favorite is gw5000 but for holiday beater GW5610 will do it as well...

The 5610 is very difficult to fault - outstanding for the money I think

(As everyone knows though, the 9200 Riseman is the best G Shock ever! Getting harder to find in pristine condition at reasonable prices. Why did they stop making it?)

Whoa another fan of 9200,one of my favorite as the size is manageable and it has that destro panerai feel...

Still couldn’t top GW5000 as my favorite but it’s close, especially for the non square G

Bluetooth and Multi Band 6. We don't have a radio signal in Aus so Bluetooth is great for us. I had the blue 2ER from TicTac but sold it and bought the 1ER from Watches2U because my tired old eyes got fed up of the inverted display. A young man will have no problem.

https://www.watches2u.com/watches/ca...martwatch.html it was £88 last week on special offer, https://www.manontime.com/viewtopic....g+shock#p31315. Same module as 2ER, difference is plastic bracelet instead of strap.

Depending on your eyesight, I’d discount those with negative displays. Look cool but, erm, it’s hard to tell the time on them?!

I really really wanted to love the GW-5000 but its top heavy weight and price put me off....(I was afraid to knock it about !)...the GW-M5610 is an absolute classic and I love mine..if I kill it then fair do's, I 'll pick another up for not a lot of cash...coincidentally I stumbled across this which is a good price for an all singing dancing analogue G shock...£66 on Amazon
